The food, wine and service was faultless, a ten minute walk from where we live. Fabulous!

A foodie haven boasting Michelin-rated status, Upstairs Restaurant offers modern Anglo French cuisine. Set over 2 floors, the quirky yet homely dining rooms are the bijoux background to a culinary tour de force.

Originally trained in the Lake District, Chef Martin Reynolds showcases skills honed in London and Rome, most recently heading the kitchen at Michelin-starred Seven Park Place by William Drabble, before bringing his expertise to Upstairs Brixton. Changing on a 3-week basis according to the best available produce, inspired Upstairs menu dishes include cod with black cabbage and smoked garlic, or pork with quinoa and grapes. A tasting menu is also available in the week for a longer foray into the kitchen flavours.

The wine list will appeal to savvy wine buffs and amateurs alike, with an accomplished stock of international bottles served alongside covetable vintages. Further indulgences include innovative dessert creations, like milk chocolate parfait with zesty orange.

Starting life as a derelict Brixton flat, Upstairs Restaurant London has emerged as one of the city’s most talked-about gourmet destinations. Brixton Tube Station is an 8-minute walk away.

A good friend introduced me to Upstairs Restaurant a week ago and I'm so glad she did. It was a wednesday evening and I felt very VIP on arrival as you have to ring the buzzer to be let into this 'secret' location. The staff are incredibly friendly, and were more than happy to help us chose a wine that went well with our meal. We opted for the two courses, which was just enough for us. The portions do look small on arrival, but were very filling. I particularly favoured the foie gras. The table lit dinner, great service and mature diners meant that it was a lovely, peaceful fine dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who appreciates a grown up night out. I'm so happy to have found this little gem right on my doorstep!

We went on a Friday night, the restaurant was buzzing with diners and we had a few cocktails on the first floor before proceeding to our table on the second floor. The service was impeccable, the suggestion of which wine to have with our meal was perfect (so much so we had a bottle each). The restaurant is intimate with a candle on each table which made it not the best light for reading the menus. It was a-wash with trendy working professionals enjoying good food and drink and some couples also dining. The food was reasonably priced for the portion size, the choices were limited but there was something that my partner and I both liked. If you dine here you will definately go back for more.
