Lovely atmosphere, made even better by an attentive wait staff, which was never too quiet or too loud. The enjoyable food was classy without being pretentious. We will be back for more!

With the traditional style of a London ale house, Truckles of Pied Bull Yard in Bloomsbury offers classic British pub dining. This cosy central London hideaway has a large courtyard terrace to enjoy Davy’s signature range of fine wines and real ales.

Hearty mains like chargrilled sirloin steak with hand-cut triple-cooked chips, bangers and mash or wild mushroom risotto are hallmarks of the Truckles menu. Davy’s own label house wines, vintage champagne and English ciders all flow at the bar, along with the trademark Davy’s Old Wallop.

Homely desserts and tangy cheese and chutney end your Truckles meal perfectly. Truckles in Bloomsbury is a 5-minute walk from Holborn Tube Station.

Always a busy place, but noise volumes seemed worse than usual. We were tucked away in the 'Library', an alcove with book lined wall paper, which was at least quiet enough that we could chat. First time we'd eaten here, and were all a bit dissappointed with the range and cost of food. The sharing platters were really only just enough as a starter for two, and the large portion of chips was small - only just a small tin mug full. Two of us had salt beef sandwiches, which whilst nice, would have been better if we'd been offered a choice of brown or wholemeal bread rather than just white.

Had a lunch meeting, it was perfect, location, food, everything. I've actually booked to go again, another business meeting.
