From the team behind Marcus Wareing’s fleet of restaurants, Tredwells in Covent Garden delivers contemporary British cooking in a relaxed, neighbourhood dining room. Winner of AA's Restaurant of the Year - London, delicious cocktails join fresh, seasonal produce in a restaurant that’s clearly proud of its location at the heart of the capital.

Amongst the tempting starters on the Tredwells restaurant menu is harissa-glazed aubergine with peanuts, coriander and chilli. Main dishes are rich in flavour and whilst the menu continues to evolve, items such as the Chateaubriand have become instant classics.

From the plush leather seating or metal bar stools, enjoy London-themed cocktails, world wines and craft beers. Tredwells also plays host to live jazz sessions every Friday and Saturday.

Tredwells in London sits amidst the trendy bustle of Seven Dials, and is just a 2-minute walk from Leicester Square Tube Station.

I made the booking for my partners birthday. We were greeted by two lovely girls at the front of the restaurant. Who quickly accommodated the fact that we had a 4 month old in a buggy with us that I hadn't notified them of. We were sat at the front of the restaurant next to the window which was great. Light airy and plenty of room. Our server was very attentive without being over the top and when our son was awake he wasn't ignored which was lovely. We choose the set menu which turned out to be excellent value for money and extremely tasty.. I tried dishes that I wouldn't normally have and was very glad I did. My partner loved his food also. We enjoyed a cocktail after the 3 courses which was included in the set menu and it was a lovely way to finish his birthday meal. As a surprise they presented my partner with a couple of salted caramel bonbons on a plate with a happy birthday message. Fantastic experience all round.

lovely attentive staff - nice ambiance, quick service. Slight hitch on the food but dealt with well.

It was all rather ordinary, in my opinion.

We had thefixed menu for my birthday lunch. The gin cocktail was amazing! The pickled mackerel was lovely, but sadly not enough mackerel with only one tiny piece on offer. The lamb and broad bean was fantastic. The rhubarb yoghurt was more like a trifle so was not quite as expected -too much cream for my liking.
Overall service was absolutely fantastic the restaurant itself is lovely but would preferred to have sat in a booth rather than an island table.

We had high hopes for Tredwells all things considered, yes we opted for the meal-deal set menu but really, should that make a difference?
Scheduled to dine at 1:30pm on Sunday we arrived 20 minutes early but seeing as the place was practically empty it presented no problem to be seated. Off to a good start, but sadly it was downhill from there.

After being given the set menu's to have a look at the 6 options from which we were to choose 3, we were left unattended for half an hour before someone came over to ask if we would like some water.

We order 2 bellini's at £11 each which proved to be more fruit juice than bubbles

I opted for the pork belly ravioli, which proved to be dry and pretty tasteless. My partner received the smallest mackerel fillet as their starter.

The tiny cod fillet mains were served lukewarm at best, the broccoli and croquette sides were at best average. The salted caramel / honeycomb dessert was nice, but how difficult is ice cream? My partners chocolate slice was more of a wafer. Add to that a rather small complimentary espresso martini and we were done.

The highlight of the meal, the rosemary brioche (which says quite a lot really about the whole dining experience, when the bread is the best part)

With one coca-cola and a glass of wine as well as the above, we ended up paying £118.00

I've no doubt this place is / was good but for us it was a pretty lacklustre and rather expensive small lunch for two.

Tredwells is a really nice place to eat. The décor is very understated and the upstairs dining room bright and airy. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and happy to offer assistance without being pushy or intrusive. The set menu had really good choices and the wine recommendations for each were great. The dessert cocktail was equally good. It was all such a good evening that we had a drink in the bar on the way out. Really recommend to give it a try.

It was quiet but the service was high level. Very helpful with wine choices. Great set menu if you want to try some of the food at a reasonably low price too.
