A traditional country pub offering real ales and a hearty menu, Three Moorhens is set in a leafy area of Hertfordshire. Open fires crackle indoors during winter, and an expansive grassed al fresco areas draws diners outdoors during summer.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, the Three Moorhens menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at the Three Moorhens pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

A favourite pub in Hitchin, Three Moorhens is a 5-minute drive from Hitchin Train Station.

Pleasant carvary meal with the family, reasonably priced, moderately good service.

Staff were being trained and we're not that attentive or knowledgable. Gave wrong info about carvary meats and served flat lemonade and no ice in drinks. But that has to be down to supervisor.

Chef on carvary not at all generous and gave as thin a slice at narrow end of joint as the thicker end so first served felt a bit hard done by. But well cooked, tasty and good value. Just could have done with a little bit more.

Food and Service were very good but air con inside was too high and not comfortable (too cold) to eat inside, so we opted for the garden, but were very disappointed at the condition of the garden furniture. so many tables and chairs broken and dirty. It was hard to find somewhere decent to sit. We have been here in previous years and were surprised to see the deterioration.

Wonderful waitress, loved the scampi and delicious bake well tart. The sea bass was a tad over cooked, and didn't like bread croutons that were just bread in mushroom soup. But the other starters and fish platters were very good.

We were meeting some friends from France, there were five of us altogether and everyone enjoyed the ambience, food, service. We didn't feel pressurised after the meal to leave which was good. The table was in a cozy corner and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent... Certainly a lovely dining experience and we will be returning most definitely. Thank you very much. I phoned to ask for a soft chair for my elderly relative....told we have no booking for website is not communicating with the three moorhens ..thankfully from my phone call my table was then reserved with a soft chair. very accommodating. .lovely meal..just this website booking let them down. it would have been most embarrassing to arrive with no booking...yet armed with printout of your so called booking.

One of our party ordered a steak medium done which arrived rare and had to be sent back to the kitchen. All other food was excellent. We did all find it a little cold in the restaurant. Apart from this an enjoyable meal.
