The only Tudor castle in England to be run as a hotel, Thornbury Castle is an historic building which once played host to Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Classic heritage cuisine is served in the hexagonal-panelled main dining room, with its heavy oil paintings and roaring fires.
Modern internationally-inspired dishes are combined with traditional favourites, created using only the finest and freshest ingredients, sourced from the castle’s own gardens, local markets and nearby suppliers. Highlights on the Thornbury Castle menu include poached & grilled veal rump with smoked garlic, gnocchi, olives, broad beans & foie gras, tomato & courgette pesto risotto with walnut, parmesan & rainbow radish, and glazed lemon verbena tart with raspberry, elderflower & sherbet for dessert.
The Castle cellars hold an award-winning selection of vintage & carefully-selected New World varieties, as well as wine from the castle’s own 500-year-old vineyard. Hearty roasts are served every Sunday.
Thornbury Castle in Bristol is a 15-minute drive from Patchway Rail Station.

Absolutely wonderful. Outstanding food, service and ambiance.

We started the evening with a drink in the lounge. We were served some snacks whilst we looked through the menu. We decided on the tasting menu and really appreciated the flexibility in changing one of the courses due to a shellfish allergy. Each course was really well presented, we particularly liked the fish and meat courses. The cheese board was also very good. On the negative side I felt the ravioli was a little bland, also the dessert wasn't really to our liking. Overall the meal was enjoyable and for a tasting menu not too badly priced. The staff were good and maintained the right level of service.

Dining experience went well although I think it would be very helpful to have wifi/signal there.
