With the slogan, “Meet. Eat. Drink. Stay”, the boutique The World’s End pub, near Northampton, is simple but classy. The rustic outward appearance hides a sleek interior, fitted with the restaurant and a hireable bar – all in the picturesque hamlet of Ecton.

Boasting accomplished Mediterranean cuisine, The World’s End’s menu takes pride in its stone fired pizzas and range of steaks, but also its well-loved British pub options. Mouth-watering dishes on offer include a meat grazing board with buttered chicken liver pate, salami, chorizo, Parma ham and rump steak, and sea bass fillets with chorizo crushed new potatoes, samphire and sauce vierge.

Inside, the feature wall is composed of stacks of firewood, and old-fashioned brick archways frame the building. However, combining the classic and the modern, there is a fresh cream and brown theme to the decorations and seating, extending to the pretty anterior dining area.

Feature-packed, The World’s End also has late night live music to diversify the atmosphere for those staying out late. At just 14 minutes’ drive from Northampton, it is a country haven not far from the town.

This was are 8th anniversary and the meal we had last year was so good I couldn't wait to return, I booked it 2 months ago.

We arrive early but are not met by anyone so we go find someone. Get seated and handed the menu. Get told that one item is not available which thinking back sounded the nicest. Look over the 'Winter Menu' and it all looks very dull, big words and high prices is what I got from it.

Order some rustic bread which was basically I crusty loaf cut into 4 cake type slices. I convince my partner that if your going for steak and its a special night go for fillet. So, she has hers medium and mine medium rare which a sauce. They come out and I dig straight in, sauce all over mine and notice my partners is very rare. I noticed mine is more medium. They got the meals mixed up and she doesn't like the sauce I have. I ask if her meal can be cooked slightly longer. By the time my partners steak comes back I had finished mine. So I spent the next 15 minutes watching her eat alone. No sorry of check on how are meal was. Puddings were also very bad. I had the sticky date pudding with vanilla ice cream and brandy snap. Well, the ice cream was wrapped in the brandy snap but didn't snap, more like a chewy nothing. My partner went for the safe bet and ordered strawberry 'Gallones' ice cream. This came and after the first taste you could tell it had been defrosted and re-frozen over and over. Lumps of solid ice and unpleasant to eat. That was it I wanted to get out of this place before I lost my rag. Over the course of our time in the restaurant know one came over to ask how are meal was, apologetic about the screw up and no comp for making us both feel awkward sitting and watched the other eat. Asked for the bill, it was £84. Thats 2 glasses of prosecco, 3 diet cokes, rustic bread, 2 fillet steaks, date pudding and strawberry ice cream. I put £100.53 on the tray and tried to explain I would like £16 back. The waitress looked at me like a piece of dirt. Change came

My friend had a whole glass of wine poured down her back. The pudding should have had raspberries in it and it wasn't until we mentioned we was told oh the chef said he's run out of them !!
Room for improvement. The barman hadn't heard of spekkled hen beer.
It's little things that can let a restaurant down.

    Friendly and welcoming staff.
Enjoyed meal, but it was overcooked, probably because restaurant was busy as it was Sunday lunch
