With the slogan, “Meet. Eat. Drink. Stay”, the boutique The World’s End pub, near Northampton, is simple but classy. The rustic outward appearance hides a sleek interior, fitted with the restaurant and a hireable bar – all in the picturesque hamlet of Ecton.

Boasting accomplished Mediterranean cuisine, The World’s End’s menu takes pride in its stone fired pizzas and range of steaks, but also its well-loved British pub options. Mouth-watering dishes on offer include a meat grazing board with buttered chicken liver pate, salami, chorizo, Parma ham and rump steak, and sea bass fillets with chorizo crushed new potatoes, samphire and sauce vierge.

Inside, the feature wall is composed of stacks of firewood, and old-fashioned brick archways frame the building. However, combining the classic and the modern, there is a fresh cream and brown theme to the decorations and seating, extending to the pretty anterior dining area.

Feature-packed, The World’s End also has late night live music to diversify the atmosphere for those staying out late. At just 14 minutes’ drive from Northampton, it is a country haven not far from the town.

Food and service was excellent but found the knives very difficult to use. They were very heavy and had pyramid shaped handles. These knives should be changed in my opinion. I would not like to eat with them again and if I did book again I would first of all ask about the knives. It's a pity beacuase the food was very good indeed.

Gorgeous dining room, friendly and attentive staff, delicious food and a super children's menu. There is also a beautiful outdoor area and kids play apparatus.

Excellent food and service and a lovely atmosphere, just one small criticism, the chairs are really low and I felt I was perched on the edge all evening so I could reach the table to eat my dinner which wasn't very comfortable.

I was a bit disappointed with the Ladies Night menu this time. Normally it's hard to choose from the three selections for each course. This time there was only one starter I could eat, although the flat mushroom was lovely. I'm surprised they would offer two foods that very few people like - calamari and black pudding. With the main course, the steak in the casserole was covered in something herby but this made it look like the meat was green! Also there was too much, which is unusual for TWE, I had to give up in order to manage dessert, and I really wanted to finish the mash. And then there was only one dessert I could eat and it wasn't very nice!

Really enjoyable night. I had the sea bass and my friend had the haddock - the food was great. What made the evening more nice was the staff, from the first person taking us the table to the last lady who took our bill which unfortunately I did not take her name but she was really nice and approachable. The staff are a true credit. We were not rushed at all and it was nice relaxing evening - only down side was I really should of left a bigger tip - I will be booking again here very soon.

My son and guests had a very enjoyable night, the meals were all to a very high standard. The men had the ribeye steaks and each one came out as they had asked it to be cooked! The lamb shank fell off the bone and was very tender. I had the gluten free menu which had a nice choice of starters and mains, I went for the seabass which was cooked to perfection. The ceaser salad was reported to be the best one they had eaten! The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Thanks for making my son's birthday celebration a memorable one for the right reasons.
