Although it was a busy Friday night the food was brought out to us quite quickly, presentation was good and neither my wife or myself could fault the food. This is a lovely cosy pub which is always worth a visit.

Offering views over the snaking River Trent, farmhouse-style pub The Wolseley Arms serves time-honoured British cuisine from a trusty menu. A former coaching inn based in Staffordshire, the pub features exposed brickwork, chunky oak beams and tartan-clad furnishing, while a pretty gravel courtyard caters for al fresco dining come the summer.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Wolseley Arms menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while the ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The picturesque Cannock Chase is a 14-minute drive from The Wolseley Arms in Stafford, with Shugborough Hall just a 6-minute drive away.

Efficient good natured staff even when we were late turning up. Nice food, well presented, decent portions, although the rustic bread starter was disappointing in its size.
However, would prefer non-sticky tables, even after wiping. May need to change cleaning kit. Didn't spoil the experience though.

My husband, at friend and I had a meal on Sunday evening. The staff were welcoming and friendly even though they must have had a busy day. We shared a starter of olives and bread which were nice. My friend ordered chicken pie with mashed potatoes, and vegetables but she doesn't like peas or carrots, which only left cabbage, a bit disappointing to be fair, however she enjoyed her meal but the huge puff pastry top was impossible to eat , it crumbled to pieces so she left it. My husband and I had hunters chicken, I didn't want chips so asked for sweet potato fries instead and for some reason they were 50p more??? Why??? No vegetables came with this meal unfortunately and we didn't want to pay any extra for sides. The bacon was a thick piece of belly draught, and was fatty and unappetising, we took both pieces back for our dogs. The meal was edible but not worth £10.95 + 50p extra for sweet potato fries. We didn't want a sweet or coffees so can't comment on them, the pub was empty and getting chilly so we left. I'm not sure if we shall return any time soon, it wasn't our best ever visit.

We had a lovely meal, our table was placed in a quiet area as requested. We all enjoyed our meals especially the dessert sharing platter. The only thing I would be critical of was the onion and thyme fritter was too thick and so was stodgy in the middle.

    Good service.
Steak was good and sweet potato chips a nice change.

Always good at The Wolseley Arms. Great location, ambience and staff. Menu consistent (although more variety for veggie diners would be welcomed)

Nice midweek treat prompted by an email promotion. Lovely helpful staff, but very stretched. This did not reflect on our meal, but the waitress looked extremely frazzled. An extra pair of hands on a busy night would have helped.
    Good food.
