The witchery is a beautiful restaurant next door to Edinburgh castle with a magnificent gothic setting and excellent food, the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. If you're visiting and fancying a once in a blue moon treat then this restaurant is for you. Beef short rib is heaven and the plum and ginger chutney on the cheeseboard should be sold everywhere!

This is my 5th visit and I'm happy everything looks the same. The food and service are wonderful. My only criticism this time was that my main meal (Beef rib) was very salty and was not as pleasant as I expect from such a high standard restaurant.

    typical Edinburg decor.
    menu proposal is very restrictif,
back office and pantry very noisy
    waiter service median
absolutely chocking when after say ( we dont want dessert the waiter present the bill, ( we not finish our wine )

if we recommend is only to the historical part of the venue

The whole family enjoyed very much the high quality dinning experience at "The Witchery by the Castle". The foods presentation and taste could not be faulted in anyway, all fantastic. The selection of wine was vast and has something their to suit all tastes. My only small complaint was the location of our table in the "Secret Garden" dining area. Table was for 4 people and was located at the bottom of the main staircase. It unfortunately caught a draft from the various doors and main staircase. This though a bit annoying did not detract away from the enjoyable dinning experience my family and I had.

A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience from start to finish. Quality of food, surroundings/facilities, and staff were impeccable. A five star experience all round. Would have no hesitation going again or in recommending it to anyone else.
