We've bee to The Willy Wickett before and as usual, there was a lovely atmosphere, the staff were very helpful and friendly and both of our meals were delicious and excellent value for money.

A former dairy farm, The Willy Wicket serves quintessentially British food from an extensive menu, and enjoys a grassy beer garden framed by the pub’s red-brick exterior. Based in Bristol, the dining room features roaring open fires, black oak beam ceilings and squashy leather sofas.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Willy Wicket menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while the ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Surrounded by rolling countryside, The Willy Wicket in Downend boasts many rambling walks and idyllic beauty spots, while The Kendleshire Golf Club is just a 4-minute drive away.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant/pub. Great atmosphere I pre booked so no waiting for a table - good service and lovely food we both had beer battered cod which was wonderfully fresh and not overcooked no long waits between courses the food was hot when it came great choice of wines starting at around £3.75 for a glass 175ml serving. Plenty of parking in car park - overall a lovely Friday evening out for a dining experience it ticked all the boxes. I also recommend the pate as a starter. Please pass thanks on to our waitress (sorry i cant remember her name but she was about 50 ish dark hair and wearing jeans - a very helpful and happy person. (which was the same waitress when we came to the restaurant about 4 years ago!)

    Very good

The fish and chips was absolutely awful. The fish was soggy and undercooked. I was promptly provided with a replacement but that was just the same and I didn't have the heart to complain as it sours an evening out together. My partner's burger was ok , however you could count the chips on one hand. The food (and wine) was very pricey for what is was and simply not worth it for poorly prepared pub food. We will never go again and will certainly advise others to go elsewhere.

Service was very good, the waitress was excellent. We had three rump steaks, all were cooked as we liked them but mine had a lot of gristle in it. The other two were fine. A bit disappointed but we'll give it another try. Apart from that the whole experience was fine.
