The food was greatly improved in quality and quantity relative to our last visit. Our waitress was very courteous and attentive and the general ambiance was acceptable for a very busy time.

A former dairy farm, The Willy Wicket serves quintessentially British food from an extensive menu, and enjoys a grassy beer garden framed by the pub’s red-brick exterior. Based in Bristol, the dining room features roaring open fires, black oak beam ceilings and squashy leather sofas.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Willy Wicket menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while the ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Surrounded by rolling countryside, The Willy Wicket in Downend boasts many rambling walks and idyllic beauty spots, while The Kendleshire Golf Club is just a 4-minute drive away.

We enjoyed our meal very much, but thought the service was a little slow. We had to wait 20 minutes at least for a starter. The improvements to the restaurant look really nice. As we have not eaten here for some time I do not have a favourite meal, but the courgette burger with sweet potato chips was delicious, even though I was asked if I wanted these chips it was not pointed out to me that they were 50p more.

I have had a number of Sunday lunches at the Willy Wickett; today was the first time I have eaten there in the evening. I had taken three friends there as a "thank-you" for all the help they gave me after a recent operation. I was delighted with the extensive menu and the reception from the staff. We all chose a different meal, and thought the food excellent.

Well cooked meals for all of us with good service and staff ensured we were able have the discount available for both menu's.

Very friendly efficient waiting staff, the food was good - standard pub food but well executed! The overall atmosphere was great and we will definitely go back

I wouldn't recommend the restuarant to a friend or be in any rush to return despite the food being really nice and the venue being nice, purely for the reason that the service is awful. We waited for a long time to have a drinks order taken - probably 20 minutes or so as the staff thought we were waiting for 1 more person to turn up - despite telling them our table of 6 was now a 5. Being told "sorry we're really busy tonight" isn't something I want to hear when there are free tables - if you can't manage the tables you've set up have less tables !

There were 6 of us - all of whom had dined there before but not together. We all felt that our meal was one of the best we had had at the Willy Wicket. This was a small reunion and we have decided to repeat the experience at the same venue in 4 months

We arrived on time was not given a menu after waiting 45 min. Then we order starter, and main we waited another 20 mins for our starters, when the waitress collect our plates my friend as how long will it take for our main which she said they are ready to come out, 20sh min. Later we had our main. I no it was fairly busy there but not once did any one said we are sorry to keep you waiting, will not be coming back.
