Set amidst the stunning landscapes of the Lake District and winner of Cumbria Pub of the Year 2014, The Wild Boar Grill and Smokehouse showcases modern but hearty British food. Discover roaring open fires, sprawling rugs and low beamed ceilings in the cosy dining room.

Priding itself on its traditional décor bursting with character, The Wild Boar Inn also boasts an open kitchen for views of the chefs in action. Snack on pork crackling before sampling starters such as snails in herb, garlic and brandy cream, or game pie with piccalilli.

Guests can choose from mains including wild boar chop, and poached fillet of turbot with langoustines. Traditional pub classics such as the home roast and fish and chips can also be found on the Wild Boar Grill menu. Apple and homemade toffee vodka sorbet is a highlight among the desserts, and the wine list is substantial.

In close proximity to the famous Lake Windermere, The Wild Boar in Cumbria is a favourite with both locals and visitors. Windermere Train Station is a 10-minute drive away.

Service and staff very welcoming. The restaurant is so interesting to sit in so much to take in. Found the locked drinks shelf quirky with names of owners and dates tagged. Curious about the rock too it's a grey feature.

Food outstanding, my husband had smoked boar and I had a steak which is rare but you can't not when eating here. Cooked to perfection.

The food was excellent and the service was also exemplary. A bottle of Route 66 is recommended must if you fancy a fruity twist with your meal.

Afternoon tea was lovely. We enjoyed it all. Service was good, although we got our coffee long before our food therefore our coffee had gone cold by the time we had our scones etc.

We had a three course meal. Each dish was full of flavour and just enough on the plates, so that it was not over facing. We enjoyed the fact that we were not rushed between courses, however, we were forgotten when it came to the desserts and we had to ask twice for the dessert menu. When it finally arrived and we had decided what we wanted. It took a rather long time for a member of staff to come and take our order. In the end we had to call someone over. When the desserts arrived we were not disappointed and they were delicious.
    A lovely meal :-)

Friendly staff and a lovely place. I had the 10oz Ribeye which I was disappointed with! I came last year and had the same steak which was BIGGER. And these steaks aren't cheap.
Me and my partner finished our meals and waited 20 minutes before the plates were taken away which felt like a long time.

Loved the restaurant decor. The staff were all smart and well turned out. The food was beautiful and tasted delightful. Will definitely be visiting again! The best meal I've had for a long time. Thank you Wild Boar
