In the idyllic village of Chipstead, The White Hart is a vintage pub and restaurant from award-winning pub group, Brunning & Price. Dating back to 1731, The White Hart is characterised by whitewashed stone walls, open fireplaces and colourful rugs.

Sophisticated gastro pub offerings appear on The White Hart menu, ranging from comforting fish pie to fiery Cajun chicken and charred sweetcorn salad, with wild rice and jalapenos. Tender slow-braised ox cheek with roasted garlic mash is a White Hart favourite, featuring alongside braised Shabden Farm shoulder of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and redcurrant and rosemary gravy.

An extensive wine list and silky cask ales complement flavoursome dishes at The White Hart in Chipstead, which boasts an expansive umbrella-covered al fresco dining terrace. The pub interior is a rustic setting of chunky wooden tables, framed local artwork and high-vaulted ceilings.

The White Hart is on the corner of the High Road and Hazelwood Lane, a 2-minute drive from Chipstead Station.

The restaurant was full when we visited for lunch. Our table was ready and we found the staff very attentive and pleasant. We ordered Sunday roast and it was served an hour later, it was warm and the fish pie was dry.
Having dined here on numerous occasions before with no problems, I found this visit disappointing especially as we had friends with us and we had recommended them to try it.

We were greeted by the barman soon as we arrived. Our table was ready, we were offered to have drinks in the bar first. Lovely friendly atmosphere. We were later taken to our table. Varied menu- excellent food. Great service and good value for money. Staff in restaurant we're all young, attentive and friendly. Made my son's 29th birthday very special. Thank you to all the staff. We'll be back- want to try the Gin tasting evening. Charlotte Konig

This was our first visit in the evening as a family. The overall experience was excellent, good service, cosy atmosphere and well cooked and tasty food. One tiny gripe and it is tiny is that my daughter can only drink water due to gastric issues and when hers was brought it was infused with cucumber, which I'm sure to some is quite tasty but she hated it. No drama, asked for another and it was brought along. Bit of a strange presumption that people who ask for water would like it tasting of cucumber. The coke was also very, very watery. We will, however, return to this pub and probably on a very regular basis, we loved it.

The staff are always very courteous at The White Hart and last night was no exception. My dietary requirements were met perfectly. The chicken, ham and leek pie was ordered and also fish and chips, followed by profiteroles and ice cream. Very good choices in everyones opinion. It was a little noisy due to a large party but the staff were sympathetic to this. A good night all round. Can't wait to go back.
