We have not dined here for a long time due to some bad experiences in tge past, but can only praise it this time. Huge sunday lunch for the main course but dessert was a bit small but still very tasty. We will be back soon

In the idyllic hamlet of Ford, near Chippenham, The White Hart is a quintessential English country pub, delivering well-loved British classics made using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The refurbished 16-century pub boasts a spacious terrace for al fresco summer dining; inside, cosy décor includes some of the building’s original features, with clashing tartan upholstery, exposed brick walls & painted wall panels painted in fresh tones of sea-blue and mint green, as well as distressed-look tables & benches.

The White Hart specialises in juicy Black Angus steaks, cooked to perfection in the charcoal oven. Other favourites on the menu include tea-smoked duck with wild mushrooms, mixed leaves & pine nuts, slow-cooked pork with sage, apple, creamed potato & kale, and Gloucester sausages with mash, topped with rich bacon & onion gravy.

For something different, try a sharing platter with friends, such as the baked box Camembert with sourdough toast & sticky onion jam. The menu also features sandwiches & ciabattas, a selection of vegetarian & kids’ dishes, and a list of tempting desserts. Traditional roast is served on Sundays, and the pub also boasts a large selection of lagers, ales & cider, as well as a list of wine wines and refreshing cocktails mixed by the skilled bar team.

The White Hart in Chippenham is a 10-minute drive from Chippenham Rail Station.

I ordered Jaspers grilled fillets to start and was obviously expecting a fresh fillet but instead was served a warm fillet readily available in any supermarket. The other three starters were also disappointing and were mostly rocket. The main meal of 2 roast beef were disappointing and our 2 belly of pork were tough, although the veg was very good. Gravy tasted like a very thin oxo.

Food excellent; had Sunday roasts all round with the largest Yorkshires I've ever seen! My chicken was lovely with plenty of well cooked veg, and the but roast went down well too. Even our 9 year old cleared her plate. Deserts were equally good.

Service was very friendly, but a bit forgetful. Food arrived before drinks and the apple sauce never did.

Busy at 2 on a wet Sunday afternoon and a bit loud as a result, but overall a lovelyeal in a great location, just a few organisational issues to resolve to make this place near perfect.

Poor. Wine list misleading and incorrect. Service very slow for simple menu. Unwanted items served which were rejected and then charged for.
