Had a delightful Sunday lunch. Welcoming staff, nice table and a picture perfect bar. Gardens looked lovely and all the diners seemed happy. Enjoyed the food... The menu was short but very interesting and accurately described the dishes. A really nice experience and will definitely repeat.

A traditional country pub serving modern British cuisine, The Walpole Arms dates back to the 18th century and sits in picturesque Norfolk countryside. The pub is the only one in Norfolk to have won the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand Prize for 10 years in a row.

The chefs have created a mouth-watering menu prepared using seasonal local produce. Favourites include chargrilled 21-day aged sirloin steak with mushrooms, oven-dried tomatoes, salad & triple-cooked chips, roast red pepper & mozzarella risotto ball with slow cooked tomato sauce, artichoke & shaved pecorino salad, and pan-fried guinea fowl breast & confit leg with a potato terrine, caramelised chicory & chorizo.

Complementing the Walpole Arms menu are an extensive wine list & a tempting dessert menu. The pub serves a traditional roast every Sunday, and quiz nights are held on Wednesdays.

The traditional bar area features Norfolk red brick, oak beams and a wood burner to keep you warm in those cold winter months. With a cosy seating area, the Garden Room opens out onto the vine-covered terrace, creating the perfect setting for al fresco dining.

The Walpole Arms in Norfolk is a 10-minute drive from Aylsham Rail Station.

Warm reception and staff could not have been more lovely! Mostly local produce used in the menu. Food absolutely delicious and I did not have to wait long for it! A pearl tucked away in rural Norfolk. I'll be back!

Went for Sunday lunch yesterday after a lovely 3 hour walk. Staff very welcoming and table ready. The service was efficient but unhurried and relaxed. All the food looked delicious, all 4 of us chose the roast lamb which was beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. The brioche caramel and banana pudding was scrumpy. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, there is a separate room for families which was bright and spacious and a very pretty garden with tables and umbrellas. Immaculate toilets. A brilliant finish to a great day walking with friends.

    Lovely food, charming service.
Service was quite leisurely but we were there for a relaxing Sunday lunch so had no complaints that we got to take our time and we weren't left with empty glasses ;)

Beautiful location and interiors. The menu was broad and all locally sourced. The duck was absolutely delicious and the service is good but relaxed. Good food, lovely staff and pretty location - what more could you want?!

A friendly welcome and preparedness to amend arrangements (i.e. move us away from the lovely but warm wood burner). Great 'old inn' decor and atmosphere.

Food was splendid, served promptly and was hot.

    Good value!

A very minor point, the WA had no brown sauce available

    We shall go again.

We took 2 friends from America to lunch at our favourite dining place 'The Walpole Arms'. We hadn't seen them for 41 years. One was our daughters godfather and we were very excited. First impressions from them was 'Wow' wonderful place. Unfortunately the lady had to wait for her first course while we had ours. This was sorted very quickly but put a little black cloud over the lunch for me. After that I everything went splendidly as it usually does. The staff are lovely, the food is wonderful, the place is adorable inside and out and the initial hiccup was forgotten. Well done 'The Walpole Arms'.

Food was of a high standard compared to similar venues in the area. Pricing was a little bit- maybe 15%- higher but not to the extent that it felt expansive. The pudding was particularly good as was the service. Setting was hard to beat, friendly and efficient. All was helped by the weather of course but overall a very good experience.
