A traditional country pub serving modern British cuisine, The Walpole Arms dates back to the 18th century and sits in picturesque Norfolk countryside. The pub is the only one in Norfolk to have won the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand Prize for 10 years in a row.

The chefs have created a mouth-watering menu prepared using seasonal local produce. Favourites include chargrilled 21-day aged sirloin steak with mushrooms, oven-dried tomatoes, salad & triple-cooked chips, roast red pepper & mozzarella risotto ball with slow cooked tomato sauce, artichoke & shaved pecorino salad, and pan-fried guinea fowl breast & confit leg with a potato terrine, caramelised chicory & chorizo.

Complementing the Walpole Arms menu are an extensive wine list & a tempting dessert menu. The pub serves a traditional roast every Sunday, and quiz nights are held on Wednesdays.

The traditional bar area features Norfolk red brick, oak beams and a wood burner to keep you warm in those cold winter months. With a cosy seating area, the Garden Room opens out onto the vine-covered terrace, creating the perfect setting for al fresco dining.

The Walpole Arms in Norfolk is a 10-minute drive from Aylsham Rail Station.

We are regular visitors so we knew what to expect but as always it exceeded our expectations. The staff are brilliant, the food is excellent and the setting just ideal. We had a very unusual starter so the chef needs additional praise for being adventurous. Well be there again very soon.

Two features were outstanding. Quality of the food and service. The menu was interesting and wide and the wine list interesting. I so enjoyed the pigeon breast.

Lovely food, great service. The menu is interesting - loved the take on a caesar salad with 'chargrilled lamb belly bacon' and the sea bream dish. Nice to see some unusual ice cream flavours on the dessert menu - I had coconut and butterscotch. Also appreciated the yummy bread (not many places do that these days).

The waitresses and staff were excellent but the menu was limited. The dishes would be better by adding some more vegetables.
The crab salad was disappointing- too many leaves and not enough crab.

Warm welcome, friendly and helpful staff. Good menu - not too many choices and included local produce in season.

It was a return visit for us after my father's wake there last May and it delighted us all over again. The service is excellent, warm & friendly staff and the food delicious. Four of us shared the whitebait for starter which was perfectly battered & cooked and the sea bass main was excellent, light & fresh with an Asian twist...we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the evening. The weather was perfect too with summer sun filling the restaurant from the open front door. We love the Walpole arms!

Excellent all around and Ioved that almost everything was locally sourced. Staff were very professional and friendly.
I would like to add one more local cask ale - Adnams and Woodforde's are excellent but there are also local Norfolk brewers who are smaller scale that could be served too.
