Food was excellent, especially the sticky toffee pudding dessert, and the staff were efficient and friendly.

A traditional country pub serving modern British cuisine, The Walpole Arms dates back to the 18th century and sits in picturesque Norfolk countryside. The pub is the only one in Norfolk to have won the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand Prize for 10 years in a row.

The chefs have created a mouth-watering menu prepared using seasonal local produce. Favourites include chargrilled 21-day aged sirloin steak with mushrooms, oven-dried tomatoes, salad & triple-cooked chips, roast red pepper & mozzarella risotto ball with slow cooked tomato sauce, artichoke & shaved pecorino salad, and pan-fried guinea fowl breast & confit leg with a potato terrine, caramelised chicory & chorizo.

Complementing the Walpole Arms menu are an extensive wine list & a tempting dessert menu. The pub serves a traditional roast every Sunday, and quiz nights are held on Wednesdays.

The traditional bar area features Norfolk red brick, oak beams and a wood burner to keep you warm in those cold winter months. With a cosy seating area, the Garden Room opens out onto the vine-covered terrace, creating the perfect setting for al fresco dining.

The Walpole Arms in Norfolk is a 10-minute drive from Aylsham Rail Station.

Pheasant pastrami exceptional; Sunday roast beef and roast partridge both excellent and good wine list

Ats here3 times during a local break. Every experience was very good with consistency in food quality and excellent service. Nice ambiance through a mix of locals and visitors who frequent this period but smart restaurant. Bar area is snug with plenty of adjoining room for larger parties. We happened upon their quiz night (Wednesday) and joined in - nothing heavy so pitched perfectly for a bit of fun.

We like eating at the Walpole Arms. The location is great, right in the middle of the countryside. We like country pubs. Would like to have a nice long lunch, with beer and wine, with a taxi to take to wherever I am staying!!

A lovely lunchtime experience. Warm, welcoming staff, a Goldilocks menu (not too long & not too short) and excellent staff waiting at the table. The food looked good and tasted even better, can't wait to go again.

We had the steak and it was amazing thank you. If I were to give you any feedback I would say it could do with a nice salad on the side as it is a very expensive meal and with no greenery. We paid £3 extra for the sauce which really should be included in the £24 price. It was cooked to perfection though thank you.

Food excellent. Portions perfect size. Wine superb. Service very good. Staff very friendly and helpful. We were given a table in the bar by the fire just as we requested. Can't fault our experience at all.
