Housed in a striking restored building, The Tunbridge Wells Bar & Grill serves eclectic world cuisine. A walled al fresco courtyard offers a tranquil setting, whilst a spectacular open kitchen indoors showcases a wood-stone oven.

A selective menu of crowd-pleasing dishes is showcased on the Bar & Grill menu. All freshly prepared on site, favourites include Thai prawn cakes with sweet chilli, or lamb cutlets with spicy Bombay potatoes from the tandoori clay oven. Old school desserts are unashamedly indulgent, from sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, to summer pudding with clotted cream.

The Bar & Grill restaurant showcases sleek furnishings, vintage prints and pretty arched windows. The impressive structure of the bar serves easy drinking wines alongside complex blends, and a range of casual cuisine.

Perched on the high street in an upmarket area of Kent, The Bar & Grill Tunbridge Wells offers a fashionable yet laidback hideaway. Tunbridge Wells Rail Station sits 4 minutes’ walk away.

Food quality is good. However the service is appalling. Very slow too and we had to call a waiter numerous times and nothing was followed up and wrong dish served and sides not brought to table. Impossible to get any attention. Drinks very expensive. Staff not well trained at all.

Disappointing meal, the service was terrible, drinks took ages to arrive & when we ordered another round of drinks, only two out of three drinks arrived despite asking for it a second time. The food was average and arrived in a haphazard fashion. Some people had main courses but had to wait ages for sides to arrive, for others it was the other way round - in all cases the food was getting cold by the time we were all served correctly, but we had waited so long it wasn't worth the risk of sending it all back. The staff were untrained and didn't seem to know what meals they were serving - couldn't tell the difference between a Sole and Sea Bass. One steak was undercooked, another was overcooked. We were charged for the drink I didn't receive and when we asked for this and the service charge to be removed from the bill, they were, but other drinks were added (that we hadn't had) so the bill came to more than originally presented! It took several attempts to get a correct bill and we left saying we would not return.

This is the second time I have been here now, they time we sat outside which was amazing and this time we sat inside which was equally as good. The food was amazing and the choice is fantastic. The staff are very polite and helpful so all in all it helped us to have a fab evening.

Music was too loud, so difficult to conduct our business lunch. Food was mediocre. Service was friendly, but could be a bit more attentive. Nice decor and outdoor eating area.

We had an amazing dining experience which started from the front desk lady who was excellent and showed us to our table and made us feel very welcome. Then our waitress Cornelia was perfect, looked after us, the food came quickly and she too was very personable friendly and helpful. The food was very good indeed. We had a very very nice evening thank you.

Great atmosphere and setting brilliant. I had salmon superfood salad - gorgeous. Maybe need lots more cushions on settees or different chairs as not too comfortable to eat at these tables. But perfect for just lounging and drinking!

    Terrible meal and rude staff.

Excellent food - we had the magnificent Tomahawk Steak which is a sharing plate and truly outstanding for flavour. Amazing creamed spinach - and I don't even like spinach... The french fries were crisp and overall the food could not be faulted.
However, the service was a first class demonstration of incompetence:
Failed to ask all members of the party for orders before trying to summarise.
Didn't know anything about the 'cuisson' of the flagship dish - Tomahawk steak
Failed the drinks orders every time - we always had to ask again - and sometimes the wait was 20 to 30 minutes
Didn't come over when we requested him to
Argued that the drinks were 'coming' - even after 30 mins of them not doing so....
Cleared half the table and then abandoned us for 20 minutes
Left the table crowded out with un-needed glasses and dishes no longer required
    Barely spoke any English
The waiter was never available and completely rushed off his feet. He looked like a deer in the headlights.... which of course is not his fault - it's the management.
And finally - the concept that required us to vacate our 7:30 table by 9:30 just made everything worse. They couldn't keep up with service and all tables wanted everything all at the same time. Just didn't work - we were well over time and didn't even have dessert or coffee. Felt like most of the evening we were just waiting.
Total disaster - cannot recommend at all.
