Had a good choice of menu, except that the Lamb item was no longer available --strange for a lunch-time menu. Otherwise food was excellent, and service prompt.

Previously a charming farm shop, The Ticked Trout, North of Glasgow, continues this heritage of serving great British food and drink, in a beautiful whitewashed building in the country. With views from the extensive al fresco garden over the River Allander and encircling countryside, the food can also be savoured from by the cosy hearth-fire.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Tickled Trout menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Tickled Trout ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

While enjoying its stunning pastoral location, The Tickled Trout is just 3 minutes’ drive from Hillfoot Train Station, in North Glasgow.

Easy parking and access. A number of items were not available which was a bit irritating. Cold unless you were sitting next to the fire. What we had was fine. Friendly staff.

The food was generally quite good however the portion sizes were disappointing. I also had warm (rather than hot) soup which appeared to comprise only half a portion and amounted to no more than half a tablespoon (one inch) in depth in what was a narrow bowl and the bread portion was also insufficient (and was also not very nice bread). Everyone's main courses looked (and tasted) good (including my own rump steak) however again the portion size of chips / mashed potatoes for everyone who got them looked inadequate and between the steak and the bowl of chips left my plate looking half empty. In summary the food was generally very good however the portion sizes were disappointing and the soup / bread could also have been larger / hotter / better. My recommendation (below) of the restaurant is subject to the above issues being addressed. We haven't been to The Tickled Trout for many years due to a poor previous experience so this visit still hasn't convinced us that it is as good as the local competition - still room for improvement unfortunately. The staff, service and restaurant itself however were all good.

This is a local pub for us so no travel hassles.Parking is easy .
We were welcomed as soon as we entered and shown straight to our pre-booked table beside a roaring fire ( on a cold wet day ! ) this was a family get together, and all the food ordered was enjoyed.
No long waits, and efficient waiting staff........what more can we say ??
Pricing remains competitive ......decor is pleasant.....TABLES NOT TOO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER.
    Well done to all concerned.

Decided to dine here for our 20th wedding anniversary as we usually have great food & service at Vintage Inns. Initial welcome was good however our waitress appeared to be indifferent towards us and we had to gain her attention to order drinks . When we started to order the meal it was only then she advised that one of the starters was out of stock. Starters and desserts were nice however sirloin was chewy and had lots of grissle. At the end of the meal we had to go to the bar to get the bill after waiting for staff to appear in the dining room. Will be a while before we return.

The food was good . The vegetables a little on the cool side but did not take away from the rest of the meal. The service great as always . The restaurant was a little cool but tolerable. Would recommend to a friend and I have done so in the past .

Very disappointing, the restaurant was far too hot, all the radiators were on and a roaring fire making it extremely uncomfortable. The meal was average and I had to send my meal back as I don't even think the chef would eat it also my grand daughter age 3 had sausages which were burnt.
