A rural, thatched, former-coaching inn, The Three Crowns in Stone has an excellent location for exploring the surrounding countryside, and is close to the landmark River Trent. Serving well-loved British pub food beside the warming log-fire or in the pretty beer garden, rustic mirrors, art and oaken beams adorn the walls.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Three Crowns menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Three Crowns ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
At just a 15-minute walk to Stone, The Three Crowns enjoys great views in the Staffordshire countryside.

We have eaten here before and know that the food is always lovely but you can't be in a hurry as the service is quite slow. We went with friends and had warned them that there would be delays but we weren't in a hurry as a Saturday night.
We all went for Steak & Supper meal deal but there was confusion with the dessert menu and 2 desserts chosen from the menu handed to us which it turned out were not on the meal deal so they then charged for each course separately adding about £20 onto the bill so although the food and atmosphere was lovely, it left a bit of a sour taste at the end.

Placed order then informed there was no ribeye or lamb. ( so had to reorder ) Server didn't know what came with meals . Food was very meadiocre. Ordered desserts and waited over 35 minutes ( for a cold dessert ) when bill came it was incorrect . I had booked the 25% off menu . Luckily I had the email confirmation on my phone and the server took my phone to ask someone. The bill was amended accordingly. The server apologised for the wait on dessert but said they were not expecting to be busy . She did have time to stand behind the bar and eat a pkt of crisps ,have a drink in a glass then have another drink from a can though.

We used to visit The Three Crowns on a regular basis. Having visited again in the last 24 hours we would not be in any hurry to go again. The food was very poor, it was quite chilly in the restaurant and there was no atmosphere at all. We do visit a Vintage inn in Rollston on Dove which is far superior to the Three Crowns in Stone.

We were well looked after from the time we were seated until we left. Food was nicely presented, tasty and hot. Staff polite and attentive. Lovely atmosphere.

we arrived and showed them the booking paper and had to wait while they made a table up for us. they didn't seem to know we had booked. our main meal arrived but had to wait for the veg to arrived. Had no spoons to serve them with and had to ask,. the food was getting cold. . The veg there was enough sprouts to feed an army, hardly a spoon of cabbage between the 3 of us and a carrot each. Then the pudding arrived I had to go up to the bar as I couldn't eat it because it had got cinnamon in it and it didn't say on the xmas menu that it contained any. We found that the menu didn't say what was in any of the meals. so I had a different pudding. which contained more cream and hardly any fruit or meringue in it. asked for the bill and went through it and they had over charged us. it took them 15 minutes to sort it out , the staff were polite but lack experience. we also noticed that other tables that had a Christmas dinner had crackers and a table centre. we didn't. we tried it but will not be retuning.
