I have always found the Talbot a really nice place for a meal. The service has always been good and the food is good value for money!

Thought to pre-date 1818, The Talbot boasts a stunning country location, near to Biddulph Grange Country Park and to a series of pretty bubbling streams and ponds. Offering well-loved British pub cuisine, you can enjoy this and the views from by the cosy hearth-fire or the beer garden. The eye-catching building is composed of gorgeous red-stone, housing other rustic characteristics like brick fireplaces and oaken beams.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Talbot menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Talbot ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Nestled in the remote Staffordshire countryside, The Talbot is just 24 minutes’ driving to Stoke-on-Trent.

staff, service and atmosphere were excellent.the food quality was improved from last visit but the meat in the steak pie was still fatty and grissley.

Got there at 6.30, received our meals at 7.30 there were not enough staff on. My meal was fine, from the specials selection. My friend had pizza, which was undercooked and had to be sent back, the sweet potato chips were cold and had to be replaced. We have eaten here on other occasions and it has been ok, but were very dissapointed on this occasion. There seen to be a lack of organisation.

Lovely looking restaurant with nice bar area but seriously let down by poor food, service and atmosphere.

Arrived 5 mins before booking but not a problem. Shown to our table and a drinks order taken right away. Very cosy and warm feel about the place. The food and the service given to us was 5 star quality.
We will certainly be going back to the Talbot again. Excellent, many thanks for a pleasant evening.

When we arrived we were told that there was not full waitress service. No problem. Then waitress came and took lunch order. OK. Main course was served and we ordered more drinks from waitress. They did not arrive. Eventually went to bar and got drinks. By the time I arrived back at table food was cold.

We were pleased to find that waitress service is now offered at this pub, as well as order at the bar. Since our last visit, the pub is no longer independent but rather part of tbe Vintage Inns chain. Overall the place remains the same, but the service is very good and food even better. It was very busy and there were a couple of glitches with our order:the pepper sauce for my partner's steak was late and we only received one espresso not two, but in the end, we were only charged for one.
We will definitely return:the menu is large with something for everyone. If you like fish, I would recommend the halibut.
