With a stunning location in the Norfolk Broads, overlooking the River Bure, The Swan – Norfolk was previously a charming 17th-century cottage, and still serves an accomplished menu of British favourites. Award-winning, the majestic black and white timber pub also houses an Innkeepers’ Lodge, and has outdoor seating in the pretty gardens and by the cosy hearth-fire.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Swan menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Swan ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

We are regular visitors to Horning this time every year, we always eat at The Swan and have found it to be welcoming, friendly and have a great menu. Unfortunately on this occasion we were a little disappointed. I booked our table on line and chose a time that the restaurant could accommodate a party of 8 adults, and a high chair, which was simple and convenient. When we arrived it was clear they had not considered our booking as it came as a surprise to the staff. They quickly responded by saying it was fine our table was ready and promptly escorted us to a table for 6 adults!
After some confusion and shuffling of chairs and place settings, we were shoehorned onto a table for 6. This eventually was changed when we asked if they had a bigger table! The result was moving our existing and adjacent tables to make room for our party.
We were also disappointed that 3 of our menu choices were not available, which was odd for a 5 o'clock meal on a Saturday night. I chose a meal from the "specials" menu, to be told it was the last one, which became apparent when it arrived. The food quality on this meal was very poor. I mentioned this to the waitress and was told she was very sorry and would pass my comments to the chef.
I should say apart from a few minor disappointments with some other meals, the rest of the part were very happy with their meals.

Original table we were given was in a corner with little room so we had to be asked to move. Starter (platter) which was £16 was poorly presented and consisted of a prawn and lobster cocktail ... One tiny bit of rubbery lobster one slither of Avacado and a handful of tasteless prawns which we had to ask to be checked if cooked as they were soggy and transparent. Service was ok but we had to get their attention on more than one occasion. We booked on line and was given a 20% discount but this was not automatically applied. I had the fish and chips for main - very greasy. We were drinking two glasses of prosecco / served warm. You also have to pay to use the adjoining car park .... Never had that experience before.

Lovely pub by the river - food very good, well presented and reasonable priced especially if you use the 2/3 course deals :-)

Very disappointed that tap beers not available due to gas leak. Staff were very apologetic & sympathetic, no alternative free drink offered. Old building desperately needs upgrading although it is in a lovely setting.

I WAS INTENDING TO SEND EMAIL TODAY AS WE WERE HORRIFIED AT THE COST OF THE WINE-£8.25 FOR A LARGE GLASS. WE HAVE NEVER PAID THIS EVEN IN A 5 STAR RESTAURANT. WE WASN'T PRESENTED WITH THE WINE MENU SO WERE OBLIVIOUS TO THE COST.IF WE HAD SEEN THIS WE DEFINITELY WOULD NOT HAVE HAD IT.ALSO TWO GUESTS HAD YOUR DUO LAMB WHICH CLEARLY STATES LAMB RUMP/SHEPHERDS PIE.THE SHEPHERDS PIE WAS NOTHING MORE THAN MASHED POTATO AND SOMETHING BROWN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE DISH..I WOULD HAVE SENT IT BACK AND ASKED THE MEAT TO BE PUT IN THE DISH HAD I NOT BEEN ENTERTAINING MY GUESTS-HOW EMBARRASSING FOR ME.SO i AM ASKING TO BE REFUNDED FOR THESE TWO DISHES. POSSIBILY YOU SHOULD EITHER WITHDRAW THIS FROM YOUR MENU OR PRODUCE WHAT THE MENU STATES. FROM A DISGUSTED DISGUSTED CUSTOMER
