Once a noteworthy roadhouse built in the 19th century, The St George & Dragon, Exeter boasts well-loved British pub food in an idyllic location, both in the countryside and near the sea. Prizing its sense of homeliness, there is an Innkeeper’s Lodge, a warming hearth for winter and a pretty garden for al fresco dining.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The St George & Dragon menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The St George & Dragon ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The St George & Dragon is just 15 minutes’ walk from Topsham Train Station, or an 11-minute drive into Exeter.

I enjoyed my dining experience at the George and Dragon near Exeter Devon have visited several times before. My favourite dish is the lamb and mini shepherds pie but its not available on a Sunday which is usually when I visit when I am visiting relatives in Devon. The restaurant is always very clean and nice atmosphere and staff are always helpful especially the blonde haired lady who sorry I don't know her name but has been with you for quite a long time.
My mother has the fish and chips on Sunday but was very disappointed as it was very overcooked and hardly any fish. However, the restaurant did take off 20% of the bill which was a pleasant surprise and a nice gesture as we hadn't really complained just mentioned it to the staff,

Sadly disappointed especially after reading some of the reviews. Not impressed by the qualityof the food. Firstly my wife ordered the beef Sunday roast. Not very warm, yorkshire pudding cold and the beef was tough could not eat it all.. Seemed like it had been kept warm for too long? The meal I ordered which was the lamb option with a cheddar shepherds pie was not delivered instead I was given a Beef Wellington. I did say that this was not was ordered but the waitress returned saying it was her fault and she was sorry but would I accept the meal. She pointed out that this was a more expensive meal and I would not have to pay the difference. WOW thanks for that!! I felt that I was given little option. Added to the fact that my family had all got their meals. All in all very disappointed.

Booked in advance, but were shown to a rectangular table squashed up tight to a neighbouring table. Lunch was unremarkable, and after a very long wait for our dessert orders, on enquiring we were told that our order sheet had slipped off and fell into some water.
