What a lovely experience! It was my friend's birthday and he enjoyed his excellent meal. I am a vegan and the staff went out of their way to create a menu for myself . We will definitely go back to this restaurant, because the food if great and the customer service exceptional!

Originally a collection of barns, the building housing The Spade Oak is right next door to the house where Enid Blyton lived. Set in the sleepy riverside village of Bourne End, the pub & restaurant serves a menu of tasty modern British cuisine and boasts a leafy garden for al fresco dining & rustic interiors with a log fire.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Spade Oak menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Spade Oak cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Spade Oak Buckinghamshire is a 9-minute drive from Cookham Rail Station.

We ordered our food at 1.05 and it took until 13.55 to get food. There was 5 0f us and all food cane out separately, and wrong - asked gravy on side. Came on meat.

The food was good, size and quality except the sticky chicken. this was small.
unfortunately the service was poor. slow to take drink and food orders.
i wouldnt complain if the pub was busy, but there was only 5 tables in use.
a nice evening spoilt by sub standard service.

We were looking for a good roast dinner and spade oak more than delivered . Lovely crisp roasties , yorkshires and i tried butternut squash for the first time too . Service excellent we asked for extra gravy no problem . The high backed chairs really comfortable and the restuarant had a family atmosphere . .

We wanted a quiet dinner for two and got just that as dining just after Christmas and New Year and in the middle of the week not many people around.
The pub / restaurant has a lovely decor and is warm and welcoming.
Staff were very attentive and friendly.
Food was very good (not excellent) and well presented and portions were fine. The lamb and ale pie had more pastry than meat otherwise all was good and represented good value.
