On the site of the original Sandeman Port and Sherry Cellars, The Sign of The Don offers British cuisine with a nod to Spanish and Portuguese heritage. The Sign of The Don Bar and Bistro complements the more formal Don Restaurant next door and is a sibling of the famed Bleeding Restaurant, Bistro and Tavern in Farringdon.

Take a seat in the atmospheric dining room and enjoy a selection of European bistro dishes, followed by a sweet treat from the dessert menu or a selection of 5 farmhouse cheeses.

The décor emphasises The Sign of The Don's Iberian heritage, with specially commissioned pieces including a cork bar, reclaimed port-barrel banquettes, and a 3-metre corkscrew carved from metal.

The Sign of the Don in The City is a 2-minute walk from Bank Tube Station.

Enjoyable experience in a very pleasant atmosphere, very busy and not enough staff on for the amount of diners.

I'd booked the 2 courses for £17.50 offer but was given the standard menu. I had to ask for the offer menu. The offer menu was very limited so I ordered from the main menu anyway.

The food was average but expensive.

The staff were quite helpful and friendly, a little clumsy, and later in the evening anxious to close the restaurant when there were only a couple of tables left. One lady got the hoover out; a chap was in the ladies bathroom cleaning the mirrors; and we were told it was last orders if we wanted anymore drinks (I've never known this in a restaurant before).

The lighting in the downstairs area where I was seated was quite harsh and bright, which I don't like.

The location is very good for Cannon Street station, but I won't be going again.

Overall OK but nothing special. Fish soup was good but not amazing. Rib eye was supposed to be between MR and Medium but was hardly pink at all. Not much sign of The Don here for me.

Food good, service and speed of preparation good (important for a business lunch). Table small and cramped and was disappointed when told this was the only available, having booked in advance with Bookatable, when it clearly wasn't (judging by the occupation). Prices reasonable for the quality.

Food was good, service prompt and pleasant and ambience lovely. Only snagging issue is that they had a mouse that made itself visible during desert. While they tried to catch it and offered the deserts for free. - still unsettling.

Great cooking and wine list, backed up with friendly and efficient service at a reasonable price in a well converted space!

Good service with good food at a reasonable price for the location

Great food, good wine. The waiting staff seemed to misunderstand absolutely every request, which was frustrating, but not crucial, since I repeated and checked orders. Bottles instead of carafes, sparlkling instead of tap, each dish order needed repeating. It's a fairly new place; this will improve quickly, I am sure. David
