It was our first time at the sheppey and we left with an amazing experience !! The waiter was absolutely brilliant he knew the menu inside and out and encouraged us to try new things . I have since told several people about our night out and we look forward to seeing you soon !!

Housed within a quirky restored barn, The Sheppey Inn is a contemporary country pub near Wells. Just 5 minutes from Glastonbury, The Sheppey pulls in a diverse crowd with live music from a range of eclectic artists.

The Sheppey Inn menu features modern European offerings such as Somerset lamb carpaccio with beetroot and minted Greek yoghurt dressing, while a Spanish charcoal oven produces tender smoky barbecue chicken and roasted Somerset pork belly. Far eastern influences run through the ‘Asian fish and chips’ with chilli-battered haddock, triple-cooked chips, wasabi peas and Asian slaw, and a duo of duck with pak choi, chilli, chorizo and baby new potatoes.

High-vaulted barn ceilings in the The Sheppey Inn in Somerset are peppered with skylights, and a latticed outdoor terrace area looks down the tranquil River Sheppey. Craft beer nights feature alongside live music, which ranges from blues to an innovative chilled dub folk.

In a tranquil spot in Lower Godney, The Sheppey Inn is 6 miles from the centre of Wells.

The menu was interesting, food was of a good quality, much of it locally sourced, it was freshly prepared and well cooked. At times an ingredient too many but overall well thought out flavour combinations. The service was relaxed and friendly but also efficient. Can't really comment on drinks as we only had one- but pleasing to see jugs of water on offer. All in all a very relaxing ,pleasant dining experience. My only one criticism would be on our arrival- I think it's important to acknowledge that someone has arrived straight away, rather than being left feeling ignored. It only needs to be a smile and "hi I'll be with you in 2 minutes".

I love this place. It's so unique! Every time I go they're doing something different, adding a new dimension to the dining experience. The staff are always friendly and go that extra mile to make your time there memorable. This time we were given an apple and elderflower type Pimms to try and watched Fi make a series of flavoured gins. She also gave me tips on making blackberry whiskey. Even the kitchen staff speak when you pass the hatch. I can't praise the Sheppey enough, its a wonderful place.

My husband and I ate with you last year on holiday and we had just the most amazing meal, experience and service. I have looked forward to the opportunity of eating with you again. I visited with 2 girlfriends. We were terribly impressed with the choice of drinks. The service was excellent. The exterior was a little off putting but I knew the delight in store for us inside. Unfortunately the food was not so good this time which leaves me feeling disappointed. I had the fish stew again as a starter. The last last time I could hardly finish it. This time the flavour had no depth so I was very glad of the sauce that came with it which helped but still lacked any sense of fishiness. The bread was slightly stale and was not the beautiful artisan bread we had last time. I thought the treacle tart would come warm which disappointed me when it came cold and none of us thought strawberry went with it so I asked for vanilla ice cream instead which the chef gave me. Had I not had such a thoroughly wonderful meal the last time the meal we had last last would have been ok but as it is the meal was disappointing. It is a shame because we are due to visit again in june, a party of 6, and I had intended to take them to the sheppey but I shan't now.
