Housed within a quirky restored barn, The Sheppey Inn is a contemporary country pub near Wells. Just 5 minutes from Glastonbury, The Sheppey pulls in a diverse crowd with live music from a range of eclectic artists.

The Sheppey Inn menu features modern European offerings such as Somerset lamb carpaccio with beetroot and minted Greek yoghurt dressing, while a Spanish charcoal oven produces tender smoky barbecue chicken and roasted Somerset pork belly. Far eastern influences run through the ‘Asian fish and chips’ with chilli-battered haddock, triple-cooked chips, wasabi peas and Asian slaw, and a duo of duck with pak choi, chilli, chorizo and baby new potatoes.

High-vaulted barn ceilings in the The Sheppey Inn in Somerset are peppered with skylights, and a latticed outdoor terrace area looks down the tranquil River Sheppey. Craft beer nights feature alongside live music, which ranges from blues to an innovative chilled dub folk.

In a tranquil spot in Lower Godney, The Sheppey Inn is 6 miles from the centre of Wells.

Dinner was nice but a little cold. Roast potato's could do with being par boiled and a little longer in the oven. I like a crunchy yet fluffy roast spud. No parsnips with roast?
Dessert was perfect. Coffee was lovely. Atmosphere was very nice, friendly staff and friendly clientele. Music great for lunch time. General surroundings fab. We even got a fine display of starling murmuration to boot. :)

Our Valentine's Day lunch was excellent, as always. We only live a couple of miles away so when we have a special occasion the first place with think of is The Sheppey. Food was fab, restaurant was warm which was a relief as it was a brutal day out there. The service cannot be bettered. it must be a nice place to work as the staff are all very happy and friendly. I would like to comment more fully on the menu but I can't really as we always have the fish soup which is better than any I've had during our summers in France. Thanks Sheppey.

Best Sunday afternoon in ages. Roast beef was perfection and atmosphere fantastic. Melodic live music in the background and a real fire by my side. Thoroughly worth driving out of town for.

What a funky dining experience! Just try those locally sourced burgers and salsas. Wrap your chops around tasty skin-on chips and slaw. We found fresh courgette on the platter of the home made breads in the starter, now that's an achievement considering there is a World shortage of this tasty vegetable. Don't get me started on the in house made Mr Lick's ice creams and sorbets, I'm still licking my lips from the Salted Almond and oooh the Honey and Dime bar taste festival. What are you waiting for? Get yourself over there and get in the groove!
