With a working mill which dates back to the 12th century, a water wheel and beautifully landscaped decking overlooking the River Avon, The Saxon Mill is a traditional stone building which has been converted to a gastro pub, serving a menu of modern British cuisine. The open plan restaurant & bar feature log fires, stone & wooden flooring, and open kitchens, as well as a glass window cutaway in the floor, where water can be seen flowing under the building.
With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Saxon Mill menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest available ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.
The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Saxon Mill bar in Guys Cliffe. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

Food was ok. We sat upstairs which was cold. We waited for ages for someone to take our order. Wouldn't rush Back!

Lovely dining experience. Very helpful staff. Very good with small children. Food choices wide and well presented. Excellent for adults and children. Prices very reasonable. Excellent environment and location. Altogether a very enjoyable lunch. Will definitely come back again.

As always, a welcoming environment and staff. Refurbishment very pleasing and comfortable. Staff have good knowledge of menu.

view of the river from our table was beautiful. Food was very good - we had the 8 hour slow cooked beef. Service was good. Quite a lot of staff & they all seemed to know their roles. We enjoyed the evening & the ambience was good even on a Monday evening.

Waiting time was terrible for ordering and waiting for our food- staff got the orders for starters and main wrong and when we pointed it out to staff, they weren't bothered! Lovely place, food more than average

This is a lovely restaurant. We had a table in the first floor section that had great views of the surrounding mill pond and Manor House. The food was excellent and well presented. The service was excellent too. The menu was varied with pub favourites as well as additional choices. There was also a specials list. Overall an excellent dining experience.

Has Sunday lunch last Sunday. We (3 of us) had beef. We got one overcooked slice each with a large lump of fat in the middle. The roast potatoes were so burnt that we had to ask for new ones. The overall quantity of food was small. We saw other portions wiz backwards and forwards from the kitchen that looked more substantial maybe it was just the beef people that were short changed. The Yorkshire was very hard, also overdone. The vegetables given for 5 persons was also small and mainly boiled cabbage, hardly an exciting choice, some root veg would have been nice. Being left hungry I ordered the cheese plat. At £8.50 the portion I got was again small and came with no butter. Definitely not value for money.
The service was fine, she tried as best she could but we were left waiting a long time to get any food on the table. We noticed that many dishes were returned to the kitchen that looked a lot better than what we were served.
All in all quite disappointing. The payment machine went awol when trying to pay and we had to wait 20+ minutes for that. Not a good experience.
