Found within one of London’s most famous 5-star hotels, The Thames Foyer at The Savoy offers its acclaimed afternoon tea. A domed glass ceiling floods this space with natural light, and a live pianist offers a calming musical accompaniment.

A long-time member of the benchmark-setting Tea Guild, The Savoy’s afternoon tea is meticulously crafted in-house by resident Pastry Chef, Ludwig Hely. Enjoy a stand of finger sandwiches and homemade scones served with clotted cream, and strawberry jam made to a treasured Savoy recipe. To follow, a range of delicious seasonal-themed cakes and pastries are served tableside from a silver platter.

Rare teas sourced from China, India, Sri Lanka and Iran are served in the finest polished silverware and delicate china tea ware, while flutes of chilled champagne can be selected for an extra-indulgent afternoon tea in London. Guests can also visit the on-site patisserie, where a menagerie of sweet treats are served alongside chocolates crafted by in-house chocolatiers.

One of the capital’s most celebrated afternoon tea experiences, The Savoy on the Strand sits 5 minutes’ walk from Charing Cross station.

Good morning, may I just start by saying how much we enjoyed our afternoon tea. The service was exceptional and both waiters were both professional and kind. I have spoken to quite a few people since my return and told them all that I would have paid the same again as in my opinion it was worth it. May I just say I will be coming back again in the future and thank you so very much.

We had the High Tea - which was fantastic - so much food! Beautiful surroundings and the service was absolutely first class.

By contrast, we have been to the Waldorf many times;the tea and particularly the service we had at the Savoy exceeds so much more than the Waldorf offers.

True highlight! Afternoon tea experience that must not be missed. Excellent choice of teas, very friendly and professional service, delicious food - even for a guest with several food intolerances.

I had tea at the Savoy yesterday and had a wonderful time. It was my second time here and did not disappoint at all. The staff were wonderful and their service is still exemplary however, I was a bit disappointed that some of the guests are so scruffy, I don't expect everyone to be suited and booted but there were a number of people in scruffy t-shirts and someone in a hoodie and a baseball cap which he kept on the whole way through his tea service. I found this quite rude and think the Savoy are doing a fantastic job but it's a shame that some of the guests do not have a common decency to look a bit more tidy. Maybe the Savoy need to start enforcing their dress code.

The experience was great however the website advertised 'afternoon tea' at £54 per person. When we got the bill it was £163 for 2 people! We did not purchase any alcohol either (as we don't drink) & were told that the 'festive menu' was the only option available. This was not mentioned on the website prior to booking!
