Alton Towers Resort - The Rollercoaster Restaurant

Alton Towers Resort, Stoke-on-Trent, ST10 4DB

Food was ok - standard type of fare for a restaurant of this type - but - it's the delivery system that makes it fun particularly if you've got kids.

A truly unique dining experience at Alton Towers Resort, The Rollercoaster Restaurant is set underneath a vast rollercoaster track that carries meals to the table via gravity-defying loop-the-loops and spiral drops. Entry to the theme park is not required in the evening to dine in the restaurant.

A great selection of hearty grill recipes and international twists can be found on The Rollercoaster Restaurant menu. To start, there are premium flavours such as lobster tail cocktail, and smoked paprika-dusted calamari, giving way to gourmet burgers served in brioche buns with seasoned fries. There are slow-cooked pork ribs, 10oz ribeye steaks, as well as exotic additions, such as the Bombay butter chicken curry. There are also special kids' menus, offering smaller portions of the adult mains, along with their own dedicated recipes.

For dessert, The Rollercoaster Restaurant Alton Towers Resort offers up sharing options like the indulgent chocolate fondue, or individual treats like potted lemon curd cheesecake.

The Rollercoaster Restaurant is a unique blend of dining and theatrics, with Stoke-on-Trent sitting a 30-minute drive away.

The experience of dining here with the kids was great! The loved watching the food come down the rollercoaster and the loops were their favourite! It was well organised and the staff were accommodating when we asked to move tables, purely for a better view. One or two tiny blips but nothing major and the kids were so happy it wasn't important anyway! The food is reasonably priced, mid restaurant prices and the portions were good size! The beers needed to be colder.. quite a bit colder but nothing major! The tablet idea of ordering was fab as one of us prefers to have lots of nibbles instead of a starter and a main and the kids could order as they fancied and their desserts whilst we were eating instead of us breaking off our mains to order the kids puds! I love this way of ordering! The facts on the tablets were great too! Overall a fab experience and worth a visit!

Setting is brilliant for the kids and ghetto staff were efficient. Food was better than I expected for a themed restaurant although a little pricey.

POSITIVES: Food is nicely cooked, staff are pleasant, it has a novelty value for children.
NEGATIVES: Kitchen got our order wrong (but staff corrected it quickly), Missed a meal off our table/order, so most of us had finished our meals before the last one came out, menu is extremely limited (approx 8 choices of main) and only 2 options for vegetarian - a burger or risotto. Felt like hard work for the adults as you have to order (via an iPad), catch (off the rollercoaster) and serve your own food - paid £125 for the experience. Not sure i'd be in a rush to return. (5x mains 5x drinks 3x desserts = £125)
PLEASE NOTE: Your either have to walk about 15/20mins or drive to the restaurant (its in the theme park grounds) if you are staying at the hotel - not ideal if you want an alcoholic drink to have to drive or to walk in the rain / minus 2 temperatures - Not very well sign posted in the dark either! GOOD LUCK DINERS!

A novel way to get dinner! The restaurant was smaller than I expected and ordering using a tablet was new but pretty easy. The staff were attentive when called and great with kids. The menu wasn't huge but enough to chose from & food was generally good (please change the curly fries photo though, we were dissapointed when straight chips came out). Fun and family focused dining.

I've ate here a few times this occasion was awful ??
Dirty saucepans sent down, wrong food sent to table mains arrived without the side and one main arrives 15 minutes later than everyone else's with the side belonging to a dish that had already been ate.
Service was appalling considering there was only 5-6 other diners dirty crockery piling up on tables
Been here many times this was the worse ever
