Formerly a charming farmhouse, The Robin Hood, Clacton on Sea is now a picturesque country pub which is also close to the ocean. It serves an accomplished menu of British pub favourites, which can be enjoyed by the cosy hearth-fire or in the pretty al fresco garden. The building boasts the classic design of whitewashed walls, black timber and a red slate roof.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Robin Hood menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Robin Hood ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Robin Hood is just a 3-minute drive from central Clacton on Sea, or 2 minutes further than that to the seafront.

Meal was very good except I ordered the sea bass with the risotto which was more like a rice pudding. The desert I had was the Eton mess was ok but presentation was poor.Something like that should always be served in a tall glass or dish not plonked on a China plate.
All the food was very good

Friday early afternoon 2 days before Christmas. Staff had booking and table saved for three of us although the Robin Hood was very busy. Efficient service. Food was good but I have never had a poor meal here. I don't think the new menu is as good as the old one as there are only about three items that appeal to me and I am now re-visiting meals I have already tried. Please bring back the fish pie, it was amazing and the peanut and chocolate cheesecake was also goo. I can recommend the chicken pie though and my daughter loved the fish and chips. Melba Brule is also worth trying.
