Food here was amazing!! Staff very professional, upstairs restaurant was lovely. On a beautiful day the location would be great. Couldn't really grade the ambience as it was the middle of the day and it was quiet and bright. Definitely recommend-prices were so cheap too!!

Nestled on the banks of the River Great Ouse, and with al fresco seating gifting tranquil views, The Rivermill is a stunning waterside pub and restaurant housed inside a Grade II-listed former watermill. Inventive British and European recipes are served, as well as regional ales and world beers.

The finest seasonal ingredients go into the Rivermill menu, with light starters including baked portobello mushroom, feta and sun blushed tomato crumble. Fresh seafood is given continental twists, such as the medallions of monkfish in chorizo crumb, with chickpea and Mediterranean tagine. From the grill, there are succulent steaks, as well as homemade burgers with onion rings and sweet potato fries.

Sumptuous desserts at The Rivermill Cambridgeshire include signature Eton mess with Malteasers and salted caramel, while from the bar there are regional cask ales and a selection of international wines.

Offering a beautiful waterside setting and friendly rural welcome, The Rivermill sits 12 minutes' drive from St Neots Rail Station.

The River Mill is amazing, fantastic restaurant. The bar manager was attentive and knowledgeable, suggesting great beer and wines.
The only disappointment was that a couple of us ordered a burger but the chef hadn't prepared any so we had a steak instead - not a disappointment in the steak but purely because it was not what we fancied at the time. The steak was really good.
No complaints and we have booked to go again next week, would massively recommend and will definitely become a regular.

The warm green bean salad was outrageous and the beef short rib was totally off the hook, but the thing that really made the evening was the attentive but discrete service.

We hadn't been to this restaurant for quite a few years, and booked it mainly for its location. It has been refurbished since our last visit, and we were very impressed by the new decorations. The food also was of a good quality, a bit disappointed that the monk fish curry was not available, but my second choice the sea bass was excellent.

The food was good, however we were a little surprised at the speed of service based on how empty the restaurant was. The waitresses were very pleasant but our main courses were served on cold plates, there were no condiments on the table and due the open nature of the building no one on hand to ask. No "would you like any sauces with your meal, can I get you some more drinks" etc. Also not happy that service charge was added automatically, I nearly always leave a 10% tip but this should be at our discretion.

this was my 3rd visit. the first was dreadful in may 2016. just before christmas was superb. but last night ... obviously busier than the pub expected. our table was booked for 8 o clock and by the time we ordered, the kitchen was bare! i ended up with my 4th choice which was a burger ... it was ok, but nothing special. the other meals were good, but noone had their first choice. service is slow ... the venue is beautiful and lovely to be in.

Lovely place to eat and drink. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I have food intollerances but again nothing was a problem. The food was hot and excellant. Will definately recommend the place. Just a lovely bright, clean establishment with a lovely atmosphere.

Nice to be able to take our dogs, a pleasant seating area away from the main restaurant area where the dogs were welcomed and treated. We would not enjoy eating in a formal dining area with other peoples' dogs so it was great that they were welcome but separate from the other diners in what we feel is an attractive place to eat.

The service was good, staff were attentive but not intrusive and were very helpful when the main courses of our meal was mixed up for two of us. We were offered complimentary drinks with profuse apologies for the mix-up. Our complaints would be that two of our party wanted to have steak as their main course and this was not available, the staff again were very apologetic. Also our son-in-law would have preferred his main course on a plate and not a platter.

    The food was:-

Our starters were interesting and different, my husband loved that there was Whitebait on the menu. One son-in-law had wood pigeon, a new taste which he enjoyed. The Pork scotch eggs were homemade and well cooked. The Trio of dips were homemade and unusual, and very big, too big for us.
The main courses were well cooked but not particularly varied and did perhaps lack vegetables or salad.
The desserts were pleasant, homemade and well presented, perhaps lacking a little variety, I would have liked to see something lighter - a compote of fruit, a sorbet or mousse maybe. I don't particularly want a pastry/pudding dessert to finish a meal but do enjoy the indulgence of something sweet.

Overall we would say we had a pleasant and enjoyable experience and would certainly be happy to go back.
