Serving exquisitely presented, modern British food in a family-friendly setting, The RiverHill Restaurant is an independent local favourite. Afternoon tea and Sunday Lunch are very popular, and an elegant menu is served at lunch and dinner.

The RiverHill menu favours scallops with the option to have them with minted pea puree with black pudding croquettes or in garlic butter with ciabatta. Other popular starters include the classic asparagus and Parma ham with a poached egg and Parmesan.

Dover sole with French fries, prawns, shrimp and lemon butter is a popular main course, as are the selection of steaks. For pudding, guests are invited to choose from the selection of sweet treats on the trolley, or opt for the cheese board.

The seasonally-changing menu is accompanied by a substantial wine list to complement every dish. Birkenhead Central Train Station is a half-hour walk or a 9-minute drive from The RiverHill in Wirral, and the bright lights of Liverpool are also close by.

Traditional values rule the day with attentive service and even a sweet trolley! Food is well done if possibly a bit safe but the number of diners in attendance on a midweek evening testifies to a loyal following.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday Lunch. The staff were friendly and efficient, and looked after us well in spite of a short delay caused by some latecomers to a rather large party.(not our party)
The food was served quickly with a suitable break between courses, my only suggestion being that perhaps our mint sauce could have been served in a separate sauceboat and not directly on the plate.
    We shall certainly visit again

We have eaten at the Riverhill before ,as recently as June, and always enjoyed the experience and had amazing food. We were unable to book for the previous week as there was a wedding but went for lunch on Fri 26th August. For most of the time we were the only diners there. I had hake (catch of the day) which was tasty but could have benefitted from a sauce. My husband had chicken with noodles which were rather lacking in flavour. We were surprised that a "2 course lunch" menu did not have any starters (not even soup) just Small and Larger plates. The staff were very pleasant and efficient but we were slightly disappointed after our previous visits. We were told a new chef would be coming shortly so we will try again in a while.
We are delighted that Mark and Nicola have purchased the hotel and wish them every success. A bonus was bumping into a player in the car park!!

A normal Sunday Lunch - Lovely.
Would have appreciated the addition of a Yorkshire Pudding with the Lamb Roast, as it is more a "Meaty" accessory than just beef.

Excellent food and service. There was a table of 13 when we were there who were a little noisy but we understand groups can be loud!A not so quiet anniversary meal for us!Enjoyed our visit all the same.
