Cancelled booking and didn't attend due to bad reviews. When I phoned to cancel I was not asked why and was treated very offhand.

Mum and I were very impressed at the cleanliness and appearance of the restaurant. We were very pleased to be seated by the window overlooking the beautiful garden. We both enjoyed our courses of chicken and hake. The Baked Alaska was especially good!

To be honest we are big fans but we did find that it had gone down hill a bit as in the menu choices and service .

As a example we asked for mayonnaise and mustard and was bought the jars it can in !!!!!!

The menu stated scallops , which was actually one scallop sliced into three.

We had bought two friends as we had raved about the quality but then to ring our experience a bit embarrassing .

We are not the type to moan but this our honest opinion .

Waitress (Adina?) stayed with us through whole experience and was wonderful throughout. Lovely touch that my friend had special happy Birthday written on her plate in chocolate. Not rushed. Menu explained and different sweet available on request. Whole meal excellent quality.

The setting is beautiful and so peaceful and staff are attentive. we had the afternoon tea which was lovely but I felt there could have been a better choice of sandwiches, lots of egg and cream cheese when we would have preferred prawn or grated cheese and cucumber even if the cost was slightly higher

I took my partner to Charlton House for a birthday treat. The meal could not have been better. The staff were charming and efficient; the setting (in the conservatory, overlooking the garden, beautiful even on a drizzly night) elegant, and the food very good. I read that the restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star a few years back which it had then to rescind because it also caters for events. In my view the star was well awarded and should be reinstated! I had asked the restaurant to make a cake for my partner's birthday and this they did, magnificently - a creamy sponge laden with fresh berries! All in all, a most memorable experience. Thank you to all the super staff! The only thing I would change would be the music. It could have been more atmospheric (perhaps more classic FM-style?) and less 'poppy'. We stayed overnight and I can highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros for breakfast - most tasty!

Glass of Red Wine £9 !!!! Far too expensive.
    Roast Beef Very Tough
Conservatory Too Bright and Glary, Needs decent Blinds for a nice sunny day.
Got the Bill Wrong. Followed by a phone call later with extra charge. Very bad service
Only booked here as favourite Hotel restaurant was fully booked
Very small portions, not a meal for a man!!!

3 tables occupied by ladies in bathrobes - presumably from the spa ? Not good. My guest did not like that. Also I had to query the bill which was for 4 people not 2.

Service was very good and setting is beautiful. As a spring day doors were left open a bit too long so restaurant was chilly.
Venison quails eggs were delicious and unusual recepie.
Duck was tasty but really just duck pie, more duck and one veg is too much meat. Mascarpone desert was lovely.
Would love to come for lunch on a summers day.
