A quirky and contemporary bar and restaurant by the Tate Modern in Southwark, The Refinery offers a wealth of imaginative cocktails alongside a modern international menu. Street level tables and deckchairs offer relaxed, open-air dining and drinking.
Kaleidoscopic offerings at The Refinery ranges from British classic cottage pie, reworked with pancetta and swede mash, to prawn lollipops and katsu fries. Succulent steaks can be upgraded to surf ‘n’ turf with a half Scottish lobster, while a breakfast and brunch menu offers a variety of options from around the world alongside innovative cocktail recipes, like the breakfast martini.
A 30-page drinks list at The Refinery in London provides a spectrum of offerings, from fairy-tale inspired cocktails, like the ‘Prince Charming’ blend of spiced rum, pomegranate & chai-infused syrup, to hearty draught beers. Chunky, factory-style pipes line The Refinery ceiling, soaring above chunky wooden tables and a sleek drinks bar which spans the entire dining space.
The Refinery is just a 5-minute walk from The Globe Theatre, and a 7-minute walk from Southwark Tube Station.

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Venue fun and attractive. Burger good but Thai red curry was very poor. I would recommend it but would advise careful food choice

What a great restaurant!! The interior was really well designed and the way in which the meals were presented was really fun and quirky - I.e small copper pan for the gravy and each vegetable served in its own oven tin.

Place was quite empty
Food was OK. Drink was OK
Watch out for their pet mouse. He's fast and obviously saves the cost of cleaning the floor as he can be seen running back to his mouse hole with food for his family
First we named him Mickey but this was not appropriate as he's got big ears. Nah more like Speedy Gozales!
Eventually we were engrossed in a game of spot the mouse. Its the best floor show since the Moulin Rouge
The best place for the show is the booth near the street as Speedy lives in his mouse hole underneath. Our tip for enhancing the floor show experience is to accidentally
drop some juicy treats for Speedy and then wait. Need a little patience but the wait is worth it. Gone in half a second.
The staff seemed quite proud of their pet when we asked if they were aware of him.
Altogether a memorable experience 9/10

The Refinery is a loud and buzzy industrial style bar and eating venue. Service was friendly efficient and helpful. Food OK except for the Malaysian Vegetable curry in which the vegetables were drowning in a sea of oil/ghee rendering it almost inedible.

Not impressed, service incredibly slow, felt we were forgotten. Ordered olives and had to ask again after almost 30 minutes. Lobster eventually served but had to find a waiter and ask for claw crackers. Food very mediocre. Person on next table asked 3 times for forgotten eggs, they never arrived. Will not be returning.

It was good. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs. Good venue, nicely decorated. Food was okay, but we booked the STAR DEAL £15 for steak, lobster and fizz, so it was a good bargain regardless.

We were running late and called a head to inform. The hostess was friendly and reassuring, and greeted us on arrival with smiles and warmth. The service was attentive without being disruptive. The food came quickly and was delicious. A great experience and I would not hesitate to return
