Situated on the pretty Calder Park, home to much wildlife, The Red Kite serves traditional British pub cuisine in a beautiful building. With patterned red-bricks and red slate, The Red Kite cuts an impressive sight in the Yorkshire countryside, viewable from the al fresco garden for outdoor dining. Inside, candles, a warm hearth and cosy low ceilings create a comfortable and homely atmosphere.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Red Kite menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Red Kite ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Also near Pugney’s Country Park, The Red Kite is only 7 minutes’ drive from Wakefield.

Very busy Saturday evening glad we booked as turning people away. Nice table and seating. Food was good and hot. Excellent value with book on discount which was a pleasant surprise on a Saturday.

Expensive Sunday lunch, starters of prawn and lobster first class, meat portion on Sunday platter for one very disappointing, tiniest bit of rock hard beef, turkey ok. Waiter did not bring small amount of change (about 75p) back to table and missed out on the £5 note I was going to give him.

Pretty poor service waited nearly an hour for food. Ordered a kids ice cream at the bar which took nearly 10 minutes to order.

The four of us had a lovely evening with nothing too much trouble for the staff who were very attentive to our needs, despite the restaurant being extremely busy service was prompt and timely. Well done Red Kite we will see you again soon.

Disappointing with regard to the experience. Although the table had been booked we were told that the table was not ready and would be about ten minutes and TOLD to get some drinks at the bar. After nearly 20 minutes I had to ask about the table and we were then led to a table that had been empty when we first arrived. This has happened previously and seems to be a ploy to sell more drinks.
The choice of available food was also disappointing with quite a number of items not available.
The food chosen was good and tasty.
I have had poor service here in the past, and because of this I use the Red Kite only because it is within walking distance.
As a share holder I really find the overall experience poor.
