An elegant seaside retreat just a stone's throw from Damien Hirst's 66-foot Verity statue, The Quay Restaurant offers elegant British and European cuisine. Via ornate French doors, enjoy views onto Ilfracombe harbour and beyond.

Making use of the local area’s bountiful produce, favourites from the diverse Quay Restaurant menu might include pasta with homemade pesto, a succulent steak with hand-cut chips, or when in season, a whole lobster in garlic and herb butter. Indulge your sweet tooth with bread and butter pudding with custard, or decadent chocolate fondant. There are also inviting vegetarian options and a children’s menu.

Owned by controversial British artist Damien Hirst, artwork from the man himself decorates the interior of this masterfully restored Victorian Inn. Guests at The Quay restaurant can choose from 2 dining rooms, one of which – The Atlantic Room – is fashioned to resemble an upturned boat, and includes an aquarium, as well as views out onto the Atlantic Ocean.

An idyllic seaside retreat, diners can enjoy drinks and nibbles in The Quay bar throughout the day. Ilfracombe town centre is a 5-minute drive away.

This is our second visit to The Quay. The food, service and atmosphere were wonderful. The children were made to feel welcome, too. Our waitress, Rachel, was helpful and friendly. When we return to Devon next year, we will most definitely be going back to The Quay.

all three of us had a fantastic meal, the service was very attentive without being over bearing. The party next to us were exceptionally loud so we retreated to the downstairs for coffee. The manageress realised why we had moved, apologised for the noise and offered a free round of drinks - I wouldn't accept because it wasn't the restaurants fault. We settled on free coffees. I was impressed with the offer and recognition of the situation.

Quite outstanding - the whole experience from ease of booking, welcome on arrival, service and, of course, the food was excellent.

We have reccomended in the past and will continue to do so.

    Superbly elegant experience.

The food - wonderful, I recommend the Oysters, these were by no means measly offerings, served with Shallot Vinegar and Tabasco Sauce. Followed by the Roast Cod, which was cooked to perfection.

The staff - friendly, professional, attentive, welcoming and the ambience wasn't stuffy in any way.

Value - if you're looking for affordable dining, this isn't the place. However, the value in this Restaurant is in the quality of food, the service etc. This Restaurant style suits special occasions, or for 'pushing the boat out'.

Each time, my Partner and I have dined here, it always felt like the first time we've ever visited and that's a difficult skill to master.

Thank you for a wonderful experience and we'll definitely return very soon.

    Top notch!

We had a delicious meal in a fantastic dining room, just loved the decor, served by lovely people. We were a party of three and all ate a different main course and we all were so pleased with them. Roasted Cod with potato salad, Pan fried Sea Bass, and Mushroom Risotto, yum !
