An elegant seaside retreat just a stone's throw from Damien Hirst's 66-foot Verity statue, The Quay Restaurant offers elegant British and European cuisine. Via ornate French doors, enjoy views onto Ilfracombe harbour and beyond.

Making use of the local area’s bountiful produce, favourites from the diverse Quay Restaurant menu might include pasta with homemade pesto, a succulent steak with hand-cut chips, or when in season, a whole lobster in garlic and herb butter. Indulge your sweet tooth with bread and butter pudding with custard, or decadent chocolate fondant. There are also inviting vegetarian options and a children’s menu.

Owned by controversial British artist Damien Hirst, artwork from the man himself decorates the interior of this masterfully restored Victorian Inn. Guests at The Quay restaurant can choose from 2 dining rooms, one of which – The Atlantic Room – is fashioned to resemble an upturned boat, and includes an aquarium, as well as views out onto the Atlantic Ocean.

An idyllic seaside retreat, diners can enjoy drinks and nibbles in The Quay bar throughout the day. Ilfracombe town centre is a 5-minute drive away.

The quay more than met our expectations and was a very pleasant surprise. Once past the ground floor bar and seated upstairs with a view of the sea and a cool breeze on the hottest day of the year we really enjoyed our dining experience. Very friendly staff, local seafood, expert cooking and small but good wine list. Devon crab claws were my favourite. Sweet and succulent with beautiful homemade garlic mayonnaise that didn't overpower the meat. Crisp linen tablecloths, shiny glasses and interesting artwork on the walls. We're going back again in two days, that's how much we enjoyed it. Oh and an excellent espresso martini for dessert.

Great food in a nice environment. Staff are very good too. With the artwork it's a cool place to eat.

The turbot and wine was delicious and the over feel or the place was lovely.

The restaurant was lovely, interesting decor, great view and delicious food. We had Oysters, Bisque and Hake which complimented our stay in the coastal haven of Ilfracombe very well. The only downside was the awful woman on the table next to us. She complained about every aspect of her meal, which meant the staff were rather preoccupied with trying to please her. I think they'd have been better off asking her to leave and concentrate on the customers who were trying to enjoy their evenings. I do sympathise with the staff, the woman was unpleasant but it meant we left after paying £130 without a thank you or a goodbye. Such a shame because any other night I think we'd have gone away buzzing following a great meal, instead we left rather deflated.

Very elegant, staff were extremely helpful, happy and attentive to your needs. No stuffy ambience whatsoever.
The food is definitely a fine dining experience, so expect manageable portion sizes, if you prefer large portion sizes, then this isn't for you.
The view from the restaurant is mesmerising, just pure uninterrupted view of the Sea and Sky.
All in all, this is a fantastic restaurant to dine in and I will definitely be returning soon.

    The food was delicious.

Everything we wanted to eat they had run out of. The skate was sitting in a load of melted butter, and lacked flavour. There is more to cooking than pouring butter on everything.

Excellent service in anew interesting setting, artwork is very cool. The restaurant has stunning views which make romance flow and the food is great and good value. Good wine list answer well executed cocktails.
