It's a great place to enjoy a fantastic afternoon tea. The service is one of the best I've ever known. The scones are delicious.

The dining experience was most enjoyable. The staff were welcoming and friendly. They discussed the menu and checked for allergies. The food was delicious and the choice of teas was first class.

The booking and confirmation was professional. On the day we received a warm welcome from all the staff that we encountered. Our Server was PURNA who engaged us with witty repartee and made us laugh. His Customer Service skills were OUTSTANDING. The pianist played such beautiful relaxing music.. I felt at home. Finally, my guest was presented with a gorgeous birthday cake with a candle. Sheer Bliss... Highly recommended venue for special occasion.

I was meeting a close ex-colleague for our regular catch-up. We usually have an early supper but this time we decided to try an afternoon tea instead. This worked out really well because it combined a feeling of relaxed luxury with an early finish - perfect for us nowadays! I was surprised at how big the Promenade is - much larger than your average restaurant. So it felt very spacious and comfortable. We had a great table too, near the pianist (but not too near, so we could still chat). My friend sat in an armchair and I sat on a soft sofa-like banquette. It was really nice not to be squashed up at a small table just because there were only two of us.
Our waiter was pitch perfect: helpful, friendly and enthusiastic. As soon as he found out I can't eat egg he brought us extra alternative sandwiches. He knew all about the various teas and the whole menu but he didn't pressurise us to choose anything in particular. We each had two glasses of champagne and everything was timed perfectly.
My favourite thing was actually the scones - I would have given up some of the cakes to have had more of those! But we did enjoy everything we had and it was a lovely couple of hours. Can certainly recommend.

We were there for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my birthday which was the day before. The ambiance was what I had expected from a traditional hotel. The decoration is opulent. The service was by far the best part of the experience. It didn't matter if you were well off, there for the first time, young or old. Everyone got the same courteous and professional service. We had 2 waiters who shared the service duties. One Irish and the other Pakistani. They were both a joy to converse with. We went with their signature Scottish tea which was extra but well worth it for the presentation and explanation you receive. The finger sandwiches were succulent. The scones were heavenly. Where I felt that The Dorchester fell short is with their selection of cakes and sweets. While all tasted nice enough, these were not desserts that were creative or anything that you haven't tasted and eaten in any ordinary restaurant or bakery shop. I just expected more I guess. There was live entertainment, first a piano player and later on a quartet joined in singing happy birthday every once in a while whenever the waiters brought out little birthday cakes to anyone celebrating. Overall this was a really pleasant experience..

The service at The Dorchester Promenade is beyond excellent. It is a fancy tea room and that's exactly how you feel regardless of where you come from. Every person has two dedicated staff at least waiting to help them if not pro-actively doing so and the whole service ran like clockwork. Never once rushed or made to feel uncomfortable, at just the mention of a birthday, having a fuss made and then leaving with treats in tact ready to eat at home the next day. All suggested by staff, all complimentary. I don't usually leave tips or service charges if I'm not overly impressed or feel like someone is doing something as per job but this venue left my wallet £20 lighter because of how good they were. Cost of the Ice Cream Champagne Afternoon Tea is one of the dearest offal places that do such an experience yet every penny was well worth it and the princess feel it gave my girlfriend was worth even more. Must go again for the mad hatter version in October and would recommend to anyone doing this for the first time to go here, where everything is explained in detail and the staff are brilliant. The food itself was awesome but the tea we drank was incredible. The room had a live piano player playing very intimate versions of things you may have and may not have heard before, gently adding to the ambience of an already majestic looking tea room. 10 out of 10.
