Constructed in 1822, The Priory near Bristol has always concerned itself with serving great traditional meals, since it was formerly a hotel. With a classic whitewashed exterior and large Victorian windows, The Priory boasts an enticing log-fire and an al fresco beer garden. It is furnished with rustic beams and an ornate mantelpiece, aiding its rural character.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Priory menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Priory ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Located in the country, but only a few miles from the sea, The Priory is a country haven, just 18 minutes’ driving into Bristol.

    We had a super meal,really tasty and great staff would highly recommend

    Our table was ready for us when we arrived. My husband and I had the steak and mushroom pie served with mash and vegetables. Piping hot and delicious. I have had it before and can recommend. Our friends had scampi and chips and gammon, eggs and chips. All very large portions and presentation was great. The bonus for us was that as it was Black Friday we had a ten pound off voucher. As we were treating our friends it was very welcome. Nobody rushed us and after our coffee and a little chat we went on our way.

    Main course Ham Egg & Chips was standard and quite acceptable
    Desert was the Share Dish and was excellent
    It was understaffed although staff worked hard to provide a good service

    I have eaten here several times and have always had great food, decent portions, excellent service and a fine experience. It wasn't a busy lunchtime but I have been to the Priory when the restaurant was absolutely full and I have to say the food and service were just as good in both circumstances.

    Ambiance good. Service rather slow . Food ok but the bread used in the sandwiches was heavy going. Red wine was poor

    The ambience is great and our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The chicken pie and seasonal veg was a disappointment. The enormous looking pie wuth the puff pastry llid looked better than it tasted . The mashed potato was seemingly instant mash badly placed on the plate. The cabbage in the seasonal veg was all stalk and not cooked. the wedges of carrot were so well done they had become rasreless abd very watery. The steap pie as bad.
