Serving a classic afternoon tea, The Potting Shed in Marylebone is found in the regency townhouse setting of the Dorset Square Hotel. Tea can be taken in the laid back contemporary restaurant, or the hotel’s elegant drawing room.

The potting Shed afternoon tea is classically simple. A selection of fresh sandwiches includes smoked salmon and cream cheese, rare roast beef, horseradish and crème fraiche, and truffled egg and cress. Joining the timeless tradition of scones with clotted cream are various sweet delights including double chocolate cake and raspberry Bakewell.

The Potting Shed in London boasts an impressive range of teas to complement the sweet and savoury treats. Led by their bespoke English breakfast menu, the tea list features speciality teas and infusions from around the world.

Sitting on the edge of Regent's Park, The Potting Shed at the Dorset Square Hotel is a 3-minute walk from both Baker Street and Marylebone train stations.

My husband, sister-in-law, two children (12 & 11) took my mother-in-law for an 80th birthday surprise 'afternoon tea' to the Potting Shed. One of the reasons for choosing here was that they offered both a vegan and child option. Good location, with just a short walk from either Marylebone or Baker Street stations. All of the staff were extremely professional, yet very friendly and welcoming. Our 'afternoon tea' was delicious and very filling (we actually had it at lunch time). There was also a varied list of specialty teas to choose from. Finally, at the end of our meal, our waitress brought out to my mother-in-law a plate which had been inscribed with chocolate "Happy 80th Birthday!" and filled with delicious fresh fruit and a mango sorbet - a lovely surprise for her and indeed all of us.

Nice setting and ambience. Quality of afternoon tea (sandwiches and cakes) was average apart from the delicious scones which were the highlight!

This was a great choice for a good natter over a relaxing Sunday afternoon tea. It was good value for money noting the quality of the food and decor in this boutique hotel. It is handy for Baker St tube, Marylebone station and no 2 bus route. The staff were very courteous and helpful and I would be happy to book there again for tea. The positive experience has made me curious about checking out other hotels in the Firmdale Hotels group.

The staff were absolutely lovely and the setting was perfect. However, I was so disappointed with the food. I was given the vegan option and I'm afraid it was pretty much inedible. The scones were dry, chalky and heavy, looked undercooked inside. The sandwiches were dull and the bread was dry. The desserts were also very dry (I wonder if they were all made gluten-free?) But the brownies were quite nice and the tea was lovely. But I left hungry and had to eat elsewhere.

Also, after we finished, I was expecting the staff to clear our plates away. The table became quite crowded and there wasn't even enough room to put the check down on the table. A small thing but thought it was worth mentioning!
