Previously 2 cute and charming rural cottages, The Poplar Farm has been tastefully refurbished to reflect the beautiful Hampshire countryside enclosing the pub. It offers well-loved British cuisine which can be enjoyed from the cosy hearth-fire or in the pretty gardens. With an authentic thatched roof and rustic furnishings, the supposed ghosts in the pub diversify the peaceful atmosphere.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Poplar Farm menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Poplar Farm ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

On the pretty Pilhill Brook, nestled in the Hampshire countryside, The Poplar Farm is just 7 minutes’ drive into Andover.

In the first 5 mins of arriving we heard 2 complaints about the food from two separate customers. Our Main course tasted lovely but both my husband and I had items missing that was clearly stated on the menu. Could have been hotter. Dessert -Apple pie & custard was Scortching hot and the pastry was soggy, it was clearly re-heated in the microwave!! Didn't taste great at all. I had to ask how much longer our food will be as it was 45 minutes before we started eating our main. Shame really as lovely cosy pub one of my fav places to eat, but always complaints about Poplar Farm.

Parking was a nightmare and took me 15 minutes to park.....the food was lukewarm at best and very very dry and the main meal portions differed greatly even though two of the orders were the same!!!

I have eaten here before and this is a long standing pub with lots of memories for me.
Unfortunately today was a let down on speed of service and choice on the menus. Our starters we had chosen were not available, one of the adults main courses chosen wasn't available and one of the child's choice wasn't avaaible. After asking for a few things like, straws for the children, spoons for the children, some ketchup and some drinks, we had to help ourselves as the service was very slow. I got the impression not enough staff to serve their customers. I went to speak to the manager after a little while and was told it had been a busy weekend and many things on the menu where out, however this was not explained to us before putting in our order.
The manager did offer a complimentary bottle to make it up, but no of us were drinking, she then suggested complimentary pudding which only the children had and these were charged for. i had to suggest that the comped our coffees instead, which they did.
Although they offer to comp certain thing to ease the announce of the situation it unfortunately didn't make up for the bad impression it had on the rest of the table. Sad really as places like these are so rare and it has so much history. Hope it gets better, I will return again to give them another chance, as I do think it was a bad day and unfortunate.
