The first Scottish venture for impassioned brothers Chis and Jeff, The Pompadour by Galvin offers stunning French fine dining. Guests can lounge with expertly mixed aperitifs in the speciality Pompadour cocktail salon.

Blending the finest Scottish produce and a pioneering French cooking style, signature dishes from the Pompadour menu include roast Scottish Chateaubriand, violet artichokes, ratte potatoes & garlic cream or apple tarte tatin to share.

Over their careers, the Galvin restaurant brothers have gained awards including 2 Michelin stars, 10 AA Rosettes, and were named Chefs’ Chef of the Year in 2011. First opened in 1925, The Pompadour in Edinburgh was inspired by the lavish leanings of Louis XV’s chief mistress.

The stunning Renaissance-style dining room is recognised as one of Edinburgh’s finest, with corniced ceilings, ethereal murals and rich velvet swept throughout.     Poor service and mediocre food for this dining Xperience. It took nearly 45 mins without explanation to make our order after being shown to our table. The Grouse was spongy, tough and chewy , the lemon sole, served with no sauce was dry, marginally overcooked and not succulent as it should be. Nobody paid much attention as to whether we enjoyed the food.
    As a 5 star dining experience it was poor.

    First time eating here so tried a £35 for three courses plus a glass of Brut offer they had running. A lovely bright, dining room with great views over Edinburgh and beautifully decorated. I would say the tables are slightly too close together. Our neighbours conversations were easy listened to. The food was fine although slightly underwhelmed by the cheesecake dessert. I had tomato salad and chicken which were very nicely presented for the first two courses. The thing that let the experience down for me was the service. We waited ages for the champagne, and even longer for the menu. It wasn't that things didn't arrive other than that quite quickly because we were in and out in just over an hour. It was more that we felt it was all a bit impersonal and not what I would have expected from a high end restaurant. I enjoy better attention and just as good food in the Brasserie bar downstairs.

    The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We both had pea and mint velouté with a hens egg to start which was a great combination of flavours then I had the pork main which melted in the mouth it was so good. Each course was delicious.

    Excellent!
    The food was delicious, the restaurant beautiful, the service top-notch, we really enjoyed it.
    We had the 3-course menu with a glass of champagne - for £35.
