With stunning riverside views and a large beer garden with a crackling fire pit for al fresco dining, The Plough – Fen Ditton is housed in a restored paper mill and coaching inn whose history dates back hundreds of years. With chunky wooden tables, plenty of armchairs & fireplaces, the pub is a rustic hideaway serving modern British cuisine.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Plough menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Plough – Fen Ditton cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Plough in Fen Ditton is a 12-minute drive from Cambridge Rail Station.

The service was great from the red haired petite waitress and the surprised me as booked before read the reviews complaining about the slow service. The food was overall lovely but my egg with the fish cake was hard and my daughters duck slightly overcooked but other wise presented well. Should have said at the time but it did get very busy and needed to get home. I don't really class this as gastro- pub food and so a little pricey but the food was good.
The side plates looked dirty but we did not need to use them and the floor of the ladies needed a scrub, looks generally a little tired which is a shame as its a lovely setting and should imagine great outside on a sunny day. Probably would not recommend to a friend might try the Ancient Warrior next time.

Terrible Service - Took over 55min to get the meal and then the waiter threatened my guest (told him to go back to his home country of Slovenia) because he just commented that he thought the size of the Pizza was smaller then he was used to (which BTW was extremly small). Food was below average but edible

Quite busy yesterday but service quick and friendly. Had the fish and chips which was excellent. I also liked the mini dessert - which was actually just the right size and nice to have with a cup of tea.
