The food was nice and the ambience good ,however a better choice of vegetarian sandwiches and some quiches with the afternoon tea would have been better

The dining area at the Plaza is lovely and makes one feel they are back in the 1930s/1940. The tables are well laid but a little close together. On this visit the cafe was not crowded but everyone was seated next too each other which made us feel a little cramped (there were four of us present. The staff were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the Welsh Rarebit; however this time the portions appeared much smaller than on previous occasions. I drink decaff tea and although Rooibos is decaff, it should not really be drunk with milk. There are ordinary decaff teas available on the market.

We had afternoon (Connaught) tea. I like the fact the Plaza cafe has an option without cakes except for the scones. It means as a diabetic you can still indulge a little. We went on Sat 7/5 this time (been quite a number of times before). The service was particularly slow, it took 45 mins to get the food. By that time the drinks had been drunk and we weren't offered refills. The service wasn't particularly good or attentive that Sat. There was one birthday party in but it wasn't full otherwise. On the plus side we had the most amazing scones. The menu cards have changed, not for the better. I do like they are A5 size but grey print on green paper makes it very difficult to read especially in so small a font and in subdued lighting. We like the setup and the plates etc at the Plaza and I tend to take family and friends for a visit when the come. It has on occasion been a very slow process and once we did leave again as we had waited an hour and still no sign of the food. I know some of the staff are volunteers but surely there is a manager to oversee proceedings.

Lovely atmosphere and nice afternoon tea.
I booked a table for 3:30pm, as per the website but was surprised to find that the place closes at 4pm. This leads me to wonder why have a 3:30pm slot at all. Surely you can't expect someone to have tea in 30 mins!

Had bacon sandwich and Plaza tea before 11 am. Tasty and substantial . Good as no time for lunch later. Staff pleasant.

The afternoon tea was lovely and it was great that they also offer a little hatters version for the children. A lovely afternoon tea experience for the whole family :)
