In a quaint, beach house-style setting, The Phoenix offers tasty British comfort food with a modern edge. Offsetting the vibrant bar and open kitchen inside, popular barbecues are staged outdoors during summer.

Complementing the lively ambience, an array of colourful British classics dominates The Phoenix menu. Loaded open sandwiches and warming soups sit alongside refreshingly uncomplicated main courses, like a succulent fillet of beer battered cod with chips and minted peas, or Cumberland sausages with grain mustard and red onion compote.

Eclectic decor at The Phoenix restaurant sees quaint, cosy alcoves and roaring fires offset by modern fixtures and a bright, fresh colour scheme. Within The Phoenix London sits the sought after Geronimo kitchen, which lets diners sample cutting-edge gastro pub cuisine, made using a prime selection of produce.

Close to the iconic Buckingham Palace, The Phoenix Victoria evokes a relaxed yet fashionable vibe. Victoria Rail Station is an 8-minute walk away.

Lovely surroundings and excellent service. Fish pie delicious but not enough fish sauce for the huge amount of cheese mash on top!! Meant it was a little too heavy.

We went here pre-theatre - big mistake. This is not a gastro-pub - it is a pub that does a bit of food. My wife had a seafood salad which just looked a bit sad and chicken wings that were near cold. I had a burger which was OK and unremarkable. When I asked for mustard they said they had run out. Service was patchy and not particularly welcoming or informative. Definitely not a pre-theatre dining experience in any way shape or form.

Good service though inevitably very noisy pub. Food was limited and average to mediocre. Hock terrine was good though just plopped on a plate with half a gherkin for 9 quid. Burger was ok though KFC standard fries served in a silly enamel bowl was not good.

My partner had the Burger.. he's very fussy about burgers... he loved it! I go to The Phoenix with work for drinks, lunches and also personally in the evenings as the food is always of a good quality and it's lively and fun there.

I work around the corner; in cardinal place and have been visiting the Phoenix for a while. On this occasion I decided to visit with my sister, niece (8) and daughter (8) for lunch before theatre show. It was my worst experience to date. No booking logged, unpleasant smell, moved upstairs - was a mess (changing out a faulty fridge I believe), ice everywhere, on the floor, wet stairs (safety hazard). Poor service, drinks left at the bar, then served warm...
My sister wanted to leave. Having spoken to the manager, he came up and did his best to rectify the issues; he apologised and offered to take the drinks off the final bill.
We stayed only because of time, the fact that my niece and daughter didn't want to go elsewhere and also because I can't fault the food I've had in the pub on previous occasions. I was not fussed about the money, I just wanted to have received basic (good) service. It was poor.
A disappointment and I won't be returning again unless someone has leaving drinks.

Dining room at back of busy traditional pub. Although booked at 6.00 pm two items were unavailable. The rest of the menu was not over large but more than adequate. There was only one waitress serving so it took some time to place our order. When the order arrived we both had the wrong accompanying vegetables. When I complained the waitress went bacvk to the chef who didn't believe her and asked to see my plate of food that I had started eating. Eventually the plate was returned with the correct vegetable but by now the rest was somewhat tepid in temperature. As we had to dash off to the thesatre next door we did not have time to pursue the matter. When the bill arrived it stated that 12.5% wwas added for service but in fact it wasn't. However the food was well cooked and tasty. We would return there again when going to the adjacent theatre but we would be more wary. From past experience this was a one off error |(so far!) Drinks were above average in price.

    Service and food very good

    Atmosphere and service good.
Food disappointing - Purple sprouting broccoli lukewarm and a hard chew (nowhere near al dente) potatoes leathery on base of slices, monkfish tai;s and dill sauce pleasant enough.

Great meal at The Phoenix last Friday. Quick and polite service. Good selection of beers. Great burger. Nice and quick so we made it in good time for the theatre next door.
