Set in the small village of Hightown, The Pheasant – Liverpool is a rustic retreat with a cosy atmosphere. Serving a menu of modern British food with a hint of Northern style, the pub’s wood panelling, olive-and-cream walls, and cushioned seating make it a homey place to enjoy a wholesome meal.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Pheasant menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Pheasant – Liverpool cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Pheasant in Merseyside is a 4-minute drive from Hightown Rail Station.

Lovely food. Asked for a wine menu, but we're told 'we have all the wines'. So asked for White Zinfandel... they didn't have that. Didn't light our candle either :( would go back though. Salmon was gorgeous.

Booking service good. Decor inside nice. Blinds did not keep afternoon sun off out faces
.Long wait between courses. Waitress forgot to bring us the desert menu. Then because of a problem with a blow torch for a creme brull, we had finished our coffee before we got our deserts It would have been nice to be offered a complementary second coffee in view of delay.
Waitress did not really appear interested in providing a great customer service.
However most of the food was excellent .
    Would recommend and revisit

Well, as you asked... I'm afraid the meal was not up to expectations. My cousin and I chose the beef. It was very disappointing - tough, without much flavour. In fact, it took so long to chew that the vegetables became cold. The carrots were a bit on the firm side too. My sister enjoyed the vegetarian option, and the desserts, 2 lemon tarts (?) and a frozen yogurt were very good. Because of the main course, I'm afraid I would have to 'mark you down'.
I wouldn't have mentioned any of this but you've asked.... The vegetables came without serving spoons (we used our forks) and we had to ask for a fork with the spoons for dessert ( the yogurt in particular need to be 'anchored' otherwise I would have spent some time chasing it round the plate.)
However, the main reason for the outing was for my sister and I to get together with my cousin's widow and daughter and that was accomplished. So the meal wasn't the main feature of the outing.
I notice in the 'Restaurant Ratings' section you ask about ambience. We were put at a table away from other diners. Eventually, it dawned on me that we were in the family section with a surprising number of babies. Luckily, apart from the baby who sounded as though he was going to rebuild the table with a plastic hammer, they were all very good. Even that noise didn't last too long.
You ask if I would recommend your restaurant. From past experience I never recommend anything so don't take it personally.
