Set in the small village of Hightown, The Pheasant – Liverpool is a rustic retreat with a cosy atmosphere. Serving a menu of modern British food with a hint of Northern style, the pub’s wood panelling, olive-and-cream walls, and cushioned seating make it a homey place to enjoy a wholesome meal.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Pheasant menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Pheasant – Liverpool cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Pheasant in Merseyside is a 4-minute drive from Hightown Rail Station.

Recently renovated and very nice restaurant-nice atmosphere, some dishes a little on the expensive side for a pub but overall would recommend a visit. Food was of good quality, fresh and tasty. Service a little slow but was quite busy when we dined.

Nice atmosphere and both service and food were very good. Plenty of staff so we didn't have to wait. Plenty of selection of dishes for all courses and meals delivered on hot plates which is rare nowadays. Recommend a visit me will be going again.

We were very dissapointed with our meal. We both had roast rib of beef which was like roast rubber. We never got steak knives but had to ask for them. The roast potatoes had been re-heated that much the out side was so hard we cudnt bite into them and inside was mushy and discoloured. The cabbage was near raw and gravy totally tasteless. The Yorkshire pudding was ok but huge to hide the sparse amount of food. No boiled potatoes. The desert was nice. Overall very expensive for very sub standard food. I would not recommend the pheasant to anyone .

They had nothing available! When me, my mum and my boyfriend arrived we ordered drinks then were told there was NO chicken, NO duck wings, NO cheese for the burgers, NO pies! (It was 7pm on a Monday night! How can they be sold out already!?) It took us a while to decide what we wanted as that took about 50% of the menu away already! When I originally booked this meal I had looked at the menu on their website and had my heart set on the 'sticky chicken' only to find it wasn't on the menu when I arrived!! The menu on the website is wrong!
Anyway, I decided I wanted Battered Halloumi only to find out there was NO halloumi either!!
After all this I ended up eating the mushroom starter with a side of sweet potato fries. The food was lovely but it wasn't what I wanted and I was still hungry afterwards!
The staff were lovely and food was delicious but I would never recommend the pheasant to family or friends!

Food fine. Service awful. Only seemed to have one waiter for a large area. Waited for drinks, water and courses. Needs to b sorted or wouldn't go again.

Everything was lovely. Newly refurbished The Pheasant - very, very pleasant atmosphere. Lovely lighting. Food excellent and beautifully presented. Staff very professional and capable and not 'in yer face' every few minutes. They didn't need to ask if 'everything OK with your meal?' because they knew it was! A very enjoyable evening. Thank you to all.
