Formerly a grand house, The Oystercatcher near Littlehampton takes pride in its amazing location, close to the beach and surrounded by the lush countryside. Befitting of its pastoral situation, there is a distinctive thatched roof, a grand fireplace and impressive portraits. Your food can be savoured from the pretty beer garden, the hearth, or in the cosy booth in the pub.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Oystercatcher menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Oystercatcher ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

In a remote and tranquil location, The Oystercatcher Climping is only 6 minutes’ drive from Littlehampton.

Visited for Sunday Lunch January 29th meeting daughter and husband there. We ordered starters and Sunday Roast mains. It was quite busy but not full, our starters arrived within 15 minutes....and then,,, Oh dear!!!! After what seemed an eternity about an hour we asked if there was a problem with our order.....shortly after this enquiry our meals arrived, all quite cold, the plates were colder!!!! The amazing thing was our waitress (who was different from the one who took our order) came holding the plates with a towel as if everything was hot!!

We returned all the meals untouched, at the fear of getting "Frost Bite" and asked for the Manager.

He apologised stating the Hotplate in the kitchen was "Down". OK lets try again with fresh food on hot plates, he assured me that we would receive fresh food on hot plates and not our current food warmed up. 10 minutes all meals arrived back on untouchable hot plates and the food "warmer"
The large Yorkshire puddings were akin to very wet shammie leathers, the roast potatoes had become like bullets, the meat tough, the parsnips like bullets and the half carrots looked like they had been in a George Foreman Grill for the morning with black sear marks, similair to a Zebras stripes. I could go on and on and on, you get the idea?...yes the meals had been Microwaved to death!!!!! so not eaten, again and sent back, requesting NO RETURNS this time

Enough is enough.....advise given at the till when discount was applied to most of my bill was please be honest with the paying public when there are major problems in the kitchen like the Ovens are down and other problems as well........a real disappointing visit and outcome as we had not been fed with any good food only "BULL*HIT"

Walking into the Oyster Catcher was like walking into Christmas! Log fire blazing, tasteful decorations and an attentive staff. The menu offered lots of choice and the food was served at the right pace. Sometimes the restaurant can be a bit too busy (a good sign) but on this occasion it was perfect..
Thoroughly enjoyed the lunch and thanks to Lisa our excellent waitress.

Table service not the best considering the restaurant was so quiet. i hate playing hunt the waitress. My main course fish and chips had an unpleasant hard and cold centre in the fish. after i pointed this out they re cooked another portion which was piping hot and white and flaky all the way through. unfortunately that meant my companion finished their meal 15 minutes before i got my renewed main course. i wasn't offered any discount or freebie to sweeten the experience... just the full price bill. my companion didnt care for the fatty pork belly strip on their hunters chicken either - too flacid rather than crispy and their chicken portion was rather dried out from the chargrill. chips were great on both dishes. my apple pie dessert was like a cheap fray bentos pie. hardly any pastry overloaded with cinammon and an overly sweet apple filling . custard was nice and creamy. my companion also didnt care for the strength of their decaff coffee - too strong for their taste but just right for me. large coffee portion too.

As always, my brother and sister in law had a very enjoyable evening at the Oystercatcher recently. Excellent food, perfect service, relaxing atmosphere, I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to friends or relatives.
    Many thanks!

Not a great greeting waited quite a while to be acknowledged. Two beers unavailable London Pride and Doombar (8pm). Waitress who was asked to seat us snapped am dealing with another table. Eventually ordered did not know which soup available checked and said 3 bean. When put on table was a quarter only filled with cheese & chive? Probably won't visit again for quite a while as always disappointing these days.

Very nice restaurant with a good atmosphere, service was excellent on a busy Sunday lunchtime, but the wait for food was unacceptably long, when it did arrive it was a bit hit and miss. The burgers that my son and grandchildren had were great, the roasts were average to poor and unfortunately the Yorkshire puddings were flattened batter and disappointing.
