Formerly a charming 19th-century farmhouse, The Osprey, south of Glasgow, is a country pub serving traditional pub cuisine. With classic whitewashed walls, the pub is just as eye-catching as the nearby Balgray Resevoir, and features eclectic furnishings such as pastoral log-piles, brick hearths and diverse trinkets on the surfaces. You can also dine from the pretty al fresco garden in warmer climes.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Osprey menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Osprey ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

In Glasgow South Side, The Osprey is just an 8-minute walk from Patterton Train Station, or 10 minutes’ driving from Glasgow.

Louse and her team always very welcoming, cask ale was very good, accommodated elderly guest with a child's port in on request. Rush and chips was ok, could have been cooked a little longer for crispier batter. Atmosphere very good, pub was quite busy for that time of evening, good mix of ages.

Had an excellent meal at the Osprey while on a weekend visit to Glasgow. Our starter of prawns and scallops was delicious. Followed by fish & chips and chicken & leek pie. The food was obviously freshly cooked and hot. We had requested our wine to be well chilled and this was fulfilled without bother. Service was good also. Only negative was location of our table which was beside the main (busy route) to the toilets!! On paying our bill it was great to be able to use bookatable discount on a Saturday evening as most meal discounts are Monday to Friday only.

Extremely welcoming, courteous staff to start the evening. Menu is very good with something for everyone -chef prepared our steaks to perfection with good vegetables on the side. The manager, Diane, was available and had time to come round to speak with diners .

Wife had Ham Hoch dinner whilst competively price very poor quality ham tough as old boots. I had lamb shank £13.75 from special shank was small and of poor quality. We used to be regulars at the osprey but changes led us to drop it from our Resturant list. Thought we give it a try again to see what it was like on the basis of 20 percent off offer which at the end of the day it was not worth it would rather pay for quality not have 20 percent off. Staff attentif enough but lacked experience still left a tip though as not there fault they can only serve what on offer. Basically unlikely to return given there are better restaurants in the area (some of similar price) and beyond. Trust you find this statement of assistance. PS still found the osprey to be somewhat on the cool side for dining not a pleasant experience.

The food was great but the service wasn't. They were obviously very busy since it was mothers day but we didn't have enough chairs at our table when we were seated and had to ask for another one. Both times we ordered drinks thetc wrong ones came. Good value for money though.

Excellent atmosphere, staff, food & drinks. The only downside was my fishcakes (which were delicious) were made with potato and they were served with potatoes on the side. That's a little bit too much starch for me and I would have preferred a green or something a little lighter. I was also a little surprised that they closed at 11pm on a Saturday night. We were kindly asked to finish up our drinks. I would suggest staying open until 12 at the weekend.
