Taking the beautiful characteristics of a building from the early 18th century, The Old Gate Inn near Canterbury boasts a whitewashed stone appearance, a brick hearth and traditional ornaments such as classic tankards. Offering an extensive menu of trusted British cuisine, the pub also has an al fresco beer garden and luxurious Innkeeper’s Lodge.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Old Gate Inn menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Old Gate Inn ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

We were very well looked after and the food and service were very good We were a bit surprised that we had to pay an extra 50p for an extra egg with a chosen dish

Food was ok expected a better standard. Ordered sirilion and got rump instead. Fabulous waitress she went over and Beyond. It was my partners birthday and she surprised him with candles on his brownie with a birthday song??

we had an excellent meal with a varied menu . I had a very good steak with the trimmings at a good value. The staff were polite and provided good service.

The service was good and the starters acceptable, however our main meals were below standard.
Roast beef was difficult to cut and chewy, with dry carrots and mushy greens, lacking in flavour.
The risotto was very sloppy and gloopy, far too rich as well, not worth the price.
The Caeser salad lacked the usual crisp fresh crunch of the lettuce and was too finely chopped with a mix of content, and a strangely large pile of flat bread with it.
The sirloin steak was grisly, tough and not well cooked, and it is served with minimal vegetable accompaniments.
The waitress was pleasant and helpful.

On arrival, pre-dinner drinks & offered menus. The Manager on duty informer us our table for six was ready. We waited at our table for some time, when I questioned the waiter he told me I had to order food at the bar.
I complained we had booked in the restaurant and no way booked for eating in the bar.
They did resolve this and apologised, however by the time we received our starters it was an hour after arriving. The mix up at the beginning did not help. Main meals arrived which was fine, however one of the meals was wrong due to waitress entering wrong information on her hand held computer. The meal eventually arrived.
The manager did apologised and compensated us for the trouble caused. Overall it was ok and we managed to enjoy the rest of the evening.
The restaurant was not particularly busy,
Surprised restaurant placed us in bar area, especially when we had pre booked a table for 6 in

Sunday lunch was very tasty, the lamb was amazing. Very clean and tidy, welcoming atmosphere. Good choice on the menu and a nice long wine list!! To say it was very quiet the girl serving us managed to get our orders incorrect several times.

Good location and atmosphere - appealing decor with good range on the menu but service was too casual and sloppy rather than friendly and efficient
