Built in the 17th-century, The Old Farmhouse near Darlington is a traditional country pub, serving well-loved British food in a beautiful setting. Close to a number of tranquil waterways, the pub has eye-catching, ivy-enclosed walls, which can be enjoyed along with the food from the beer garden. Interiorly, rustic features characterise The Old Farmhouse, with luxurious sofas, a warm log-fire and dark oaken beams.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Old Farmhouse menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Old Farmhouse ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Old Farmhouse is just 6 minutes’ drive to Darlington.

Out of the 8 main courses ordered only 7 arrived with an apology for a delay on the 8th meal which they said would be coming soon.
By the time that it arrived most of us had finished our meal. The same delay happened with one of the deserts and they forgot to bring coffee and had to be reminded.
The main meal plates were very hot to touch but some meals were only warm.
Very disappointed with the service and the food although nice should have come much hotter. We visit here 3 to 4 times a year and this was the worst that it has been.

I had been to this restaurant some time ago and hadn't been very impressed, however this visit the food and service were excellent. I have a couple of allergies, so I asked if the dish could be modified for me - I asked if I had could have the sea bass plain with just potatoes and vegetables. The waitress was very accomodating, and said that this wouldn't be a problem.

My sea bass was beautiful, the potatoes and vegetables were all fresh and the dish was beautifully presented. Even though the restaurant was very busy, we didn't have to wait long.

Food was ok - better value because we got 20% off but veg was a bit soggy and everything a little bit sad. Drinks were good value and ambience alright. Would return if really hungry and driving past but not make a journey of it.

Called in( after reserving a table ) for a late Sunday lunch. Table for two in a cosy corner. Ordered the beef platter featuring rib and roast beef with excellent selection of veg and Yorkshires. Good selection of beers at the bar and all the staff were courteous, friendly and helpful.
