Set in the picturesque English village of Woodhouse Eaves, The Old Bulls Head is a refurbished traditional pub serving modern British & European cuisine. With chocolate brown and raspberry pink walls, plenty of leather armchairs & wood-burning fireplaces, this gastro pub is a cosy country-style retreat.

With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Old Bulls Head menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.

The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Old Bulls Head bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

The Old Bulls Head in Leicestershire is a 10-minute drive from Barrow-upon-Soar Rail Station.

Booking the table was no problem. We received an e mail confirming booking. The venue we enjoyed and the staff and service was good. The food was very good as was the wine.
The other negative comment we have is the music was to loud. However talking to the waitress after we could have asked for music to be turned down. We felt at the time we did not want this to be seen as a complaint. We would return to the restaurant and be able to mention the music if too loud. We are both retired and were looking for background noise.

We ate from the Sunday roast menu. My son had chicken which was a bit dry and the roast potatoes were over cooked and dry too. My husband and I had crumble and custard which was barely warm so we sent it back. They returned the reheated ones back to us when we would have expected new ones. Our waitress was very friendly and the restaurant looks lovely but shame about the food.

Lovely food. Service slow today but that is unusual. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Would recommend.

I was very disappointed as this was a special 40th birthday for me. My mum and sister had roast. They had carrots and cabbage they were raw. No additional gravy, no french mustard. I had buttermilk chicken will sausage inside no mention on menu it was spicey. The cheesecake tasted stale and the service was very slow. I wouldnt recommend the restaurant paid £73 for this wouldnt come again.

Sunday lunch here was lovely. Restaurant busy but you never felt crowded. Service attentive and excellent. Food beautifully presented and piping hot.

Only complaint is regarding the background music. Far too loud! Had to shout to get over it and with other diners having to do the same the overall noise level was far to high. Evening else perfect.
