I really couldn't fault it, food was delicious and the staff were lovely. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending.

Trading since the mid-1850s, The Oaken Arms near Wolverhampton is nestled in the rolling countryside of Staffordshire. Offering well-loved British pub cuisine, it boasts plush Chesterfield armchairs, an enclosed brick hearth and, true to name, chunky oak beams. The classic whitewashed exterior and the enclosing country can be enjoyed from the al fresco garden for summer dining.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Oaken Arms menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Oaken Arms ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

At just 5 minutes’ drive from the picturesque village of Codsall and its Train Station, or 10 minutes to Wolverhampton, The Oaken Arms is a perfect country retreat.

At first the table service was slow and irritating that
We was greeting at the door then showed our table - and then got I gored- we wasn't even asked if we wanted a drink or anything. Eventually after looking for some one our selves and becoming that we - well we need serving.
    Evenutally we got served.
But it was noisy and it will be a long time before we come again.
Also disappointed to hear that Clare had left -which is probably why the service was rubbish.

Although we had booked a table, they had not reserved one for us so we stood while they found one right innline of the 'ever opening' door to outside. My friend was frozen. Another couple left their table do we immediately asked to move to that one which was warmer. On the booking we had requested a quiet table as my friend suffers from anxiety. This request, in my view, was not considered at all. The service was dreadful. We were only part way into our starter sharing platter when our main arrived. They said they couldn't take it away as it would get cold (!) so we ended up with our platter and main at the same time. After a few minutes the a waitress took the platter so we had to call to her to bring it back!
Once eaten, we must have waited over half an hour before I had to go to the bar to ask for the table to be cleared and a menu for dessert. To top off the experience, the waiter clearing the table accidentally dropped the plates onto the tiled floor smashing them. I know this was an accident but we had to laugh as the whole meal had been a disaster.

Overpriced food with nothing special about it whatsoever. My Fiance had her pie served to her in a cracked and jagged dish.My Pate starter was utterly pathetic. You will have to order your own food at the bar as no one will come and take your order from you which is terrible paying these inflated prices.I've had better food at Wetherspoons. The pub itself is very nice,a nice place to sit outside if the weather is nice.I don't have anything else good to say about the place.Try the Dog and Gun instead, far better value and better quality food.

Lovely cosy dining experience. Very good friendly staff & very good food. One of the best local Vintage Inns. We had the fixed price menu - £12.95 for 2 courses which is excellent value for money. My only criticism of this being the very small choice of non-meat meals but the pizza I chose was delicious. We started with prawn & avocado salad served with warm seeded bread & butter which was a meal in itself & then my friend opted for the rump steak which she said was good.
With our meals we had the Pinot Grigio blush & because we were pretty full we ended our evening with the coffee & small puddings option, an eton mess & a chocolate pot, both of which were lovely.
We will definitely be going again.
