The tasting menu was enjoyable, with a nice variety of dishes.
Ona criticism. We were not asked how we wanted the beef cooked. I think the menu said medium. However it came well done. There was no sign of any redness in the middle.

Starters were very good. So was the desert. I was disappointed from the main lamb dish. It had sand in the leaves of the vegetables and the meat was over cooked. Also chairs were very uncomfortable.

Having been to the Nut Tree many times I was looking forward to bringing my friends to dinner. However I am afraid to i was disappointed with this visit and things have changed and not for the better in my experience. We were shown to the table and even before we could sit down were asked what water and drinks we wanted. Just a little too rushed. Let people sit down first. Then service was a little rushed but yet had to ask several times for things. The big disappointment for me was the meal. The starter was just too complicated with too many flavours. My main beef course was virtually cold and done rare even though i asked medium. Again it was served with cold sliced potato cover in some sort of cream with a cold tomato. I would have normally sent this back but did not want to wait as my friends were eating. My wife told me she had the same experience but did not tell me at the time. It was a cold evening so it was also pretty cold in the restaurant which did not help matters. In summary i would say, over complicated food that was cold with patchy service in a cold room. Very disappointing considering our many previous good experiences

Great food, service a bit clunky, conservatory has a bad echo which didn't go well when combined with shouting pensioners.

Ticked all my boxes - delicious food, delightful setting and great service - discrete but very noticing with no ostentatious flourishes.

Had planned for lunch but got trapped in bad traffic on M6 for nearly 3 hours. Called restaurant and they kindly rearranged for dinner instead of lunch even though they were fully booked. Delightful building complete with duck pond. Most friendly staff. Excellent meal washed down with selection from quality wine list. Would recommend to all interested in a pleasant evening in the Oxfordshire countryside.
