In a wonderfully tranquil setting beside the River Coquet, The Northumberland Arms Morpeth is a beautiful 19th-century pub and hotel. Inventive British and European dishes are served, along with kids' menus and popular Sunday roasts.

Michelin and AA Rosette experienced chefs craft the Northumberland Arms Morpeth menu, using the finest seasonal ingredients. Inventive starters combines bold world flavours, such as Thai spiced crab salad with spicy ketchup and watermelon and cucumber soup, with classic British traditions also featuring, including roast loin of Northumbrian venison, garden pea puree, baby carrots, chestnut mash and redcurrant jus.

For afters, there are indulgent desserts like chocolate panna cotta with chocolate ganache and homemade chocolate chip shortbread, as well as a great selection of Northumbrian cheeses. The wine list includes vintages from around the globe, and there is also a selection of cask ales and craft beers.

A great example of rustic rural dining blended with cosmopolitan tweaks, The Northumberland Arms in Morpeth is 8 minutes' drive from Acklington Train Station.

    Superb as always!

Went for afternoon tea which was presented lovely and the service was good however the spread on the finger sandwiches was not butter and had the overpowering taste of margarine. There was no butter with the fruit scones, not enough jam for 2 people to share and the cream was not clotted it was that squirty cream from a canister which was also really sweet! Overall not a great quality afternoon tea we were all a bit disappointed with it.

A mixture of good and poor. Despite booking had a 30 minute wait as table and scones not ready! Then needed to ask for milk, sugar, cutlery for our table. The pot of tea was made and presented almost 20 minutes before any food - it was definitely past its best. Low point was finding a very long hair in the whipped cream (for which an apology was received but no discount- not even on the drinks we had to buy whilst waiting for the table to be prepared!) . Unfortunately the seating area is between the bar/restaurant and the kitchen, so there is a constant stream of meals and dirty crockery going past. High lights - staff were friendly and trying their best and the quality of the cakes was excellent.

Overall a good experience the staff were friendly and helpful but unfortunately one of the fish and chips was undercooked and contained a paper date stamp within the batter.

Really nice Afternoon Tea, beautiful profiteroles, only negative we sent a message requesting no Fishy Sandwiches and we were inundated with smoked Salmon.

Lunch was Luke warm at best. Gravy thin, food quite tasteless . Veg not enough for 3, how are you meant to share 1 piece of sweet corn two bits of broccoli and cauliflower? Service slow, but could be down to how busy it was .
