In a wonderfully tranquil setting beside the River Coquet, The Northumberland Arms Morpeth is a beautiful 19th-century pub and hotel. Inventive British and European dishes are served, along with kids' menus and popular Sunday roasts.

Michelin and AA Rosette experienced chefs craft the Northumberland Arms Morpeth menu, using the finest seasonal ingredients. Inventive starters combines bold world flavours, such as Thai spiced crab salad with spicy ketchup and watermelon and cucumber soup, with classic British traditions also featuring, including roast loin of Northumbrian venison, garden pea puree, baby carrots, chestnut mash and redcurrant jus.

For afters, there are indulgent desserts like chocolate panna cotta with chocolate ganache and homemade chocolate chip shortbread, as well as a great selection of Northumbrian cheeses. The wine list includes vintages from around the globe, and there is also a selection of cask ales and craft beers.

A great example of rustic rural dining blended with cosmopolitan tweaks, The Northumberland Arms in Morpeth is 8 minutes' drive from Acklington Train Station.

We were looking forward to dining at the Northumberland Arms whilst viewing property to buy in the area. Unfortunately we were very much less than impressed with the service we received and the value for money of the food. As an example we were not bought any tea with our "Afternoon Tea" and therefore had to go to the bar half way through eating to order as no staff reappeared in our dining area after food was served. In addition we understood this offer came with unlimited tea bit were charged extra on our final bill. The sandwiches were nice but again not overwhelmed by the 2cm blueberry tart, 2cm brownie, the meringue which dyed our tongue blue/green and the jellly in a shot glass with no cutlery to access the jelly due to its size.

Lovely restaurant. We were in the conservatory with another 2 big groups. Food was good, not amazing but it was Sunday lunch and very busy. Really enjoyed the desserts though. Helpful waitress.

Had a meal on 19th jan at 6pm for our friends 60th Birthday. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We all enjoyed our food.Lovely surroundings but only two other tables in on that night, so not much atmosphere.
