The Norfolk Hotel in Bournemouth serves classically British afternoon teas a short walk from the beach. The listed hotel’s Edwardian grandeur provides a fittingly distinguished backdrop.

Afternoon tea at The Norfolk Hotel offers various levels of indulgence. For a lighter bite, opt for the Dorset cream tea, comprising warm scones with clotted cream, and homemade strawberry jam. Hungrier diners can add classic finger sandwiches like home-cooked ham, egg mayonnaise and smoked salmon, as well as a range of cakes and pastries. Extra decadence can be supplied with a glass of chilled champagne.

The Norfolk Hotel afternoon tea is served in the hotel’s grand lounge, whilst the bar and Art Nouveau veranda are an elegant location for sampling the cocktail menu. The hotel also boasts a beautiful garden with outdoor seating.

Bournemouth’s famous beach is a 10-minute walk from The Norfolk Hotel.

Afternoon tea was very good. We really liked that there were lots of little things rather than fewer big items. All yhe sandwiches and cakes/scones were delicious. Very good waitress. Would have preferred the duty manager to leave her to it or at least check with her rather than duplicating her questions! The room was lovely with comfortable chairs/sofas and plenty of space. Very relaxed atmosphere.

This was for my mum's 60th birthday... a little treat leading up to her surprises. When I got there they had my reservation down incorrectly. I also stated previously it was my mum's birthday on the booking so would of like a little fuss, but non. The afternoon tea itself... we were put in the lounge to sit on sofas, iv been to various hotels and we have also sat at a table with chairs. The selection on the afternoon tea was nothing to shout about. The scones were rather dry. You only had a choice of one, where as at the Derby manor hotel you have a selection and could tell they were fresh. The cake selection again didn't come across as home made which was a little disappointing. The loubge area could habe done with a dusting. Ariund the top of the sifa was a coating of dust. I'm glad I've dined there to know not to bother again. I just wished I stuck to my guns and went back to the Derby manor or Christchurch harbour

Disappointing , rubbery brownie & dry cakes , scones doughy. Sandwiches thickly spread with butter , coffee grey in colour . Absolutely revolting .
